  1. This procedure involves removing engine, transaxle, steering rack and engine frame as an assembly out bottom of vehicle. Disable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Disconnect battery.
  2. Remove strut tower brace. Relieve fuel system pressure. See «FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE»(ref-1392-S41738135572000031300000) . Remove air cleaner inlet duct. Drain engine coolant. Remove radiator upper cover. Disconnect radiator hose at crossover and remove upper and lower radiator hoses from engine. Remove forward discriminating sensor from radiator support and set aside. Remove cooling fans. Disconnect transaxle cooler lines from radiator.
  3. Disconnect cruise control servo connections. Remove throttle and cruise control cables from throttle body. Remove shift cable from transaxle. Remove vacuum lines and fuel lines. Remove coolant reservoir. Disconnect positive battery cable from battery and body strap. Remove negative battery cable. Remove coolant hoses from front of engine.
  4. Working underneath dash, disconnect vacuum lines and engine wiring under instrument panel, wiring harness at PCM, and pull harness through cowl. Disconnect wiring and vacuum connections as needed to allow removal. Remove both hoses from power steering cooler.
  5. Raise and support vehicle. Remove both wheels. Separate both axles from steering knuckle. Remove back O2 sensor heat shield and connector. Disconnect exhaust hangers and remove catalytic converter. Disconnect steering coupler. Disconnect fuel lines from transaxle.
  6. Remove battery lead from generator. Remove A/C manifold from compressor and ABS modulator from frame. Position Support Table (J39580) under frame and lower vehicle onto table. Remove 6 frame-to-body bolts. Raise body off powertrain.
