Engine Mount Inspection

  1. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to «Engine Support Fixture»(/cadillac/ats/i-2012-2014/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-20l-ltg-or-25l-lcv-repair-instructions-on-vehicle) . Raising the engine removes the weight from the engine mount and creates slight tension in the rubber.
  2. Observe the engine mount while raising the engine. Replace the engine mount if the engine mount exhibits any of the following conditions: The hard rubber surface is covered with heat check cracks. The rubber is split through the center of the engine mount. The GLYCOL™ fluid is leaking from the engine mount. The phenolic spacer under the top mounting stud of the engine mount is missing or damaged.
  3. Inspect the system for loose vacuum hose connections or vacuum leaks. Refer to «Vacuum Operated Engine Mounts Description and Operation»(/cadillac/ats/i-2012-2014/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-20l-ltg-or-25l-lcv-description-and-operation__vacuum-operated-engine-mounts-description-and) .
