BACKREST FRONT

Note. The following describes removing and installing the standard driver seat. It is similar on the passenger seat and on other seat versions.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  1. Trim Removal Wedge 3409

Removing

WARNINGFollow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION . Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Remove the front seat

  1. Standard seat and Sport seat (manual). Refer to «MANUAL STANDARD FRONT SEAT»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames-sedan__manual-standard-front-seat) .
  2. Standard and sport power seat, comfort seat and super sport seat. Refer to «POWER STANDARD FRONT SEAT»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames-sedan__power-standard-front-seat) .

Attach the front seat to the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEATS, INSTALLING ON THE Fixture For Seat RepairVAS 6136 .

Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to TRIM, TUNNEL SIDE .

  1. Standard seat and sport seat (manual). Refer to «TRIM, SILL SIDE»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames-sedan__trim-sill-side) .
  2. Standard and sport power seat, comfort seat and super sport seat. Refer to «TRIM, SILL SIDE»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/seats/#seat-frames-sedan) .

Using the 3409, unclip the wiring harness -1- in the corrugated tube -2- at the bottom side of the seat pan and remove the wiring bracket.

Disconnect all the wiring harness connectors to the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses.

Note. The wiring harness between the connection point and the side airbag is continuous.

Remove the bolts -2-.

Tip backrest -3- forward onto seat pan -1-.

Press the seat pan upholstery to the side and carefully remove side airbag wiring harness -4- and, if necessary, all additional wiring harnesses (depending on equipment) from the seat pan.

Remove backrest.

Installing

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

WARNINGConnect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to [For engine(s) CAEB, CALA, CCBA] Removal and Installation .

Note. If the airbag indicator lamp -K75- indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
