- Spring for tilting wind deflector
Removing
- Fully open sunroof.
- Push out wind deflector -2- from holder -3- in direction of -arrow-.
- Pull wind deflector backward out of roof opening.
Installing
- Wind spring -3- around retaining lug of wind deflector -2-.
- Likewise, insert spring in groove of wind deflector. NOTE: Holder -1- is shown removed for clearer illustration.
- Push end stop -1- of wind deflector -2- forward under roof opening.
- Insert one retaining lug of wind deflector in holder -3-.
- On opposite side, push wind deflector slightly toward center of vehicle and engage second retaining lug in holder.

- Sunroof headliner Only in vehicles with glass panel Detach before removing sunroof panel. Removing, see «SUNROOF PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof) .
- Spring for sunroof panel Detach trim frame of molded headliner before removing. See «MOLDED HEADLINER, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-except-cabriolet__molded-headliner-assembly-overview) Remove front and rear countersunk head bolts -7-. Push front spring -2- forward or rear spring backward out of sunroof panel and remove. Pull sunroof panel sideway out of opposite guide rail and pull upward to remove.

- Sunroof panel Tilt sunroof panel to remove. - Countersunk head bolt 1.5 Nm.
- Headliner removed.
- Remove bolt of spring clip -1-.
- In vehicles with solar roof, remove bolt and guide.
- Push panel backward slightly and pull front spring clip -1- forward and out.
- Push rear spring clip backward and out.
- Lift out panel.
- Tilt sunroof up.
- Push sunroof panel completely to rear of vehicle, inside headliner.
- Unclip back of lower trim strip -1 out of catch in direction of -arrow A- and push forward -arrow B-.
- Detach lower trim strip from retaining rail by pulling toward center of vehicle.
- Unclip front and center of trim strip -2- and detach by pulling in direction of -arrow-.
- Press lower trim panel -1- onto upper edge -arrows- of retaining rail-2-.
- Push in lower trim strip -1- in direction of -arrow- until tab engages in catch -2-.
- Press upper trim strip into guide panel.
- Upper and lower trim strips removed, see «UPPER AND LOWER TRIM STRIPS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof) .
- Remove TORX bolts (T 25) -arrows- on both sides and lift panel upward and out.
- Tightening torque for installation 4.5 + 0.5 Nm.
- Perform height adjustment of front and rear of glass panel, as illustrated, to avoid wind noise.
- Check height adjustment at each corner of roof opening in relation to center of vehicle.
- Here, front of glass panel must not be higher and rear of glass panel must not be lower than roof at any point.
- To adjust height of panel, always move sliding roof from open (not tilted) position.
Glass panel seal, replacing
- Sunroof glass panel -3- removed.
- Pull glass panel seal -2- out of sunroof glass panel -3-.
- Press new glass panel seal into rear edge of sunroof glass panel -3- beginning at center. NOTE: To facilitate installing of seal, coat edge of panel with soap solution.
Adjusting motor zero setting
- Motor is removed, connectors connected.
- Set rotary switch to "Roof closed".
- Motor automatically goes to zero setting and switches off.
- Install motor in this setting with sunroof closed.
Checking
You can check zero setting with sunroof panel still installed.
- Upper and lower trim strips removed.
- Open sunroof panel back and close again.
- In vehicles with glass panel, push sunroof panel back completely to rear of vehicle.
- In vehicles with solar roof, open sunroof panel.
- Pull sunroof panel -3- downward slightly in direction of arrow and push panel backward and in.
- Close sunroof.
- If zero setting is correct, guide bolt -1- in tilt mechanism must be centrally aligned with mark -arrow- on guide plate -2-.
- In vehicles with solar roof, push headliner forward from rear position, with panel closed, until it engages.
- While doing so, make sure that catch -2- is pushed into guide -1- in rear of sunroof panel.
- Panel is tilted when sunroof is tilted.
Adjusting
- Headliner removed.
- Sunroof motor removed.
- Upper and lower trim strips removed.
- Sunroof panel pushed backward and in.
- Push guide plates -1- on both sides forward from rear position.
- If zero setting is correct, square hole in tilt mechanism of guide plate -1- must be aligned with recess -arrow- on guide rail -2-. The position shown is the zero setting.
- Install motor in the zero setting position.
Water drain hoses, cleaning
Note. For cleaning we recommend a self-made tool from cores of speedometer cables with probe approx. 2300 mm long.

Scheme 1
- Front water drain hose Front water drain hoses -1- are routed through A-pillars and end between door and A-pillar. Clean from sunroof opening.
- Rear water drain hose Rear water drain hoses -2- are routed in C-pillars and end at sides behind bumper cover. Clean from bottom end of hose, removing bumper cover to do so. See «REAR BUMPER»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-except-cabriolet) .
