Door trim, assembly overview

The following list pertains to (Scheme 14).

  1. Door trim Removing Remove triangular trim of treble loudspeaker, see «TREBLE LOUDSPEAKER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Remove trim -6-. See «TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Unscrew bolts -5- (2x). Using a screwdriver, pry out switch panel of window regulator -3- from below through the hole. Unscrew bolt -4-. Unscrew bolt -7-. Unclip door trim -1-, starting at bottom. Detach door trim -1- upward. Disconnect connector to window regulator control unit. See «UNPLUGGING CONNECTOR AT WINDOW REGULATOR CONTROL UNIT»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Disengage Bowden cable for interior door handle. See «UNPLUGGING CONNECTOR AT WINDOW REGULATOR CONTROL UNIT»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Installing Ensure that expanding nut -10- is clipped into door shell -9-. Ensure that all clips -8- (8x) are clipped in on inside of door trim. Replace damaged clips -8-. See «REPLACING DOOR TRIM SECURING CLIP»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) . Ensure that all clips -2- (6x) are clipped in on outside of door trim -1-. Install door trim -1- in reverse order to removal.

Disengaging Bowden cable for interior door handle

  1. Detach Bowden cable -2- from guide -1-.
  2. Detach hook -3-. NOTE: When installing, ensure hook -3- is facing upward.

  1. Detach catch -2-.
  2. Disconnect connector -3- from control unit -1- in direction of arrow.

  1. Press retainer tab -2- and pull out clip -1- in direction of arrow.

Removing

  1. Carefully pry out trim -1- at front end in direction of arrow.
  2. Unclip trim -1-.

Installing

  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Insulation, assembly overview

The following list pertains to (Scheme 21).

  2. Insulation Removing When removing insulation -2-, ensure that insulation -2- is not damaged. Installing Ensure that adhesive bead -3- is not dirty or damaged. Ensure that insulation -2- is not damaged. Press adhesive bead -3- tightly all around door shell -1-.

  4. Press retaining lugs -2- (2x) and remove interior door handle -3- forward.

  1. Using a screwdriver, pry out switch panel of window regulator -1- from below through the hole.
  2. Detach the connector.

Switch panel for tailgate release and/or deactivation of anti-theft alarm, assembly overview

The following list pertains to (Scheme 30).

  3. Dummy cover Removing Using a screwdriver, carefully pry out switch panel. Disconnect connector(s) from switch panel. Installing Install switch panel in reverse order to removal.

  2. Using a screwdriver, pry door warning light -1- out from below and pull door warning light -1- out with cable.
  3. Detach connector on door warning light -1-.
  4. Using a screwdriver, pry out courtesy light -2- at front and pull courtesy light -2- out with cable.
  5. Detach connector on courtesy light -2-.
  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.
  1. Unclip grille -2-.
  2. Unscrew bolt -3-.
  3. Detach triangular trim of treble loudspeaker -1- upward.
  4. Disconnect connector from triangular trim of treble loudspeaker -1-.
  1. Unclip grille -2- from triangular trim of treble loudspeaker -1
  2. Install triangular trim for treble loudspeaker -1- in reverse order to removal.

  2. Using a screwdriver, pry out circlips -1- (14x).
  3. On deactivation of anti-theft alarm: Disconnect connector -2-.
  4. On tailgate release: Detach connector -3-.
  5. Detach connector of memory seat -4-.
  6. Remove trim of bass loudspeaker.
  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Rear side trim, assembly overview

  1. Side trim Removing: Remove rear bench seat. See «REAR SEAT BENCH, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/seats/#seats-frames-cabriolet__rear-seat-bench-assembly-overview) . Grab into side trim -1- and unclip the side trim -1- at clips -2-, -7- and -6-. Unclip clip -4-. Remove side trim -1-. If side trim -1- is to be replaced: Remove anchorage point for outer floor panel. Remove decorative panel. Installing: NOTE: After installation ensure that seal is pulled correctly over side trim. Pull back clip -6- to release tension on clip -6-. Install side trim -1- in reverse order to removal.

Remove left instrument panel cover

  1. Remove left instrument panel end trim -arrow- with special tool 3370.

Removing left instrument panel end mounting

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (2x). Tightening torque 4 Nm.

Detaching connectors on vent temperature sensor -G150- and -G151

  1. Detach connector on left and right -arrow- on vent temperature sensors -G150- and -G151-.

Note. The illustration shows vent temperature sensor -G151- on passenger side

Removing instrument panel vent

  1. Detach connector for instrument panel vent light.

Note. The illustration shows instrument panel vent on passenger side. The center instrument panel vents must be pulled out to detach connector for light.

  1. Move rear air flaps of instrument panel vent into central position by turning adjustment wheel -1-.
  2. Guide tool 3438 in position -2- or -3- into instrument panel vent.
  3. Hook tool 3438 by slightly moving it into recesses -4- at rear end of instrument panel vent.
  4. Detach instrument panel vent carefully to rear alternating between left and right using special tool 3438.

Removing left and right instrument panel loudspeaker

  1. Carefully pry out loudspeaker trim -1-.
  2. Remove bolts -2-.
  3. Remove loudspeaker, disconnect connectors.

Removing and installing tray, switch and cup holder

  1. Remove tray. See «REMOVING AND INSTALLING STORAGE TRAY»(ref-197209-S23977040002005101300000) .
  2. Remove cup holder. See «REMOVING AND INSTALLING CUP HOLDER»(ref-197209-S40474503262005101300000) .
  3. Position a small flat-bladed screwdriver on top at the switch.
  4. Carefully pry appropriate switch out of switch mount -arrows-.
  5. Detach connectors.

Removing light switch and adjuster for headlight range control

  1. Press light switch -arrow 1- and turn clockwise at same time -arrow 2-.
  2. Keep switch in this position ...
  3. ...and pull light switch out of switch housing -arrow 3-.
  4. Detach connector.
  5. Press headlight range control adjuster out of switch housing.
  6. Disconnect the connector.

Removing left instrument panel trim

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (3x). Tightening torque 3 Nm.
  2. Detach trim -2- for instrument panel.

Removing instrument panel mountings driver's side.

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (2x). Tightening torque 4 Nm.

Removing upper steering column switch trim

Driver airbag unit and steering wheel removed.

  1. Pull steering column out and tilt downward as far as possible.
  2. Remove screws -1- (2x). Tightening torque 3 Nm.
  3. Unscrew bolts -3-. Tightening torque 0.6 Nm.
  4. Unclip surround from instrument panel downward -arrow-.
  5. Remove upper steering column switch trim -2-.

Removing sunlight penetration photosensor -G107

  1. Carefully pry off cover -A-.
  2. Unscrew bolt -B-.
  3. Remove photosensor.
  4. Disconnect cable connector.

Removing trim for center defroster vent

  1. Unscrew bolt -1- of defroster vent. Tightening torque 0.8 Nm.

Removing center instrument panel loudspeaker

Center defroster vent removed.

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (2x). Tightening torque 2 Nm.
  2. Swivel out the loudspeaker and disconnect the connector.

Removing trim for right instrument panel cover.

  1. Unscrew bolt -1- and detach trim -2- to rear. Tightening torque 3 Nm.

Note. When installing trim for instrument panel cover, replace fasteners -3-.

Removing right instrument panel cover

  1. Remove right instrument panel end trim -arrow- with special tool 3370.

Removing right instrument panel end mountings.

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (2x). Tightening torque 4 Nm.

Removing center instrument panel mountings

  1. Unscrew bolts -1- (4x). Tightening torque 4 Nm.
  2. Pull out instrument panel toward the rear.

  3. Test that the instrument panel is located correctly in the clip at the front by pulling up lightly.

  7. Detach inner lid - 1-.
  8. Unscrew bolts -1- (4x) on both sides. Tightening torque 2 Nm.
  9. Pull sections -1- and -4- upward apart.
  10. Pry guide rails -3- out of catch of section -1-.
  11. Separate sections -1- and -4-.
  12. Release holder at rear -1-.
  13. Pry out holder -1- using a flat screwdriver.
  14. Always replace holder -1-.
  15. Remove toothed segment -2-.
  16. Detach Bowden cable -3-.

Toothed segment with Bowden cable for right side.

  1. Engage Bowden cable -2- in long groove and lay Bowden cable -2- in groove -3-.
  2. Groove -4- not used.

Toothed segment with Bowden cable for left side.

  1. Engage Bowden cable -2- in long groove and lay Bowden cable -2- in groove -4-.
  2. Engage Bowden cable for right side in short groove and lay Bowden cable -5- in groove -3-. (Bowden cables lie in opposite directions.)

All models, continued

  1. Press toothed segment -2- onto guide.
  2. Engage new holder -1-. see scheme 109
  3. Toothed segment -2- must be horizontal on installation.
  4. On assembly, section -4- must be positioned with guide rails -3- on rubber buffers at bottom. see scheme 110
  5. Ensure that microswitch on right side is not crushed. For this pull section -4- slightly upward. see scheme 110
  6. Press section -4- back down again.
  7. The toothed segment -5- must be horizontal when folding together. Fold sections in lowest position together.
  8. In folded position, push guide rail outer section -3- upward and engage it in lugs. see scheme 110
  9. Carry out remainder of installation in reverse order of removal.
  1. Remove variable convertible top compartment. See «VARIABLE CONVERTIBLE TOP COMPARTMENT»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet).
  2. Pull carpet -1- back (convertible top compartment lining) on side to be changed until both bolts -2- are accessible. Bond carpet with D 001 200.
  3. Unscrew bolts -2- (2x). Tightening torque 4 Nm
  4. Detach convertible top compartment center section from side section -4- on right.
  5. Pull side sections -1- and -2- apart.
  6. Remove bolts -3- (4x) from inner lid. Tightening torque 2 Nm
  7. Detach inner lid - 1-.
  8. Unscrew bolts -1- (4x) on both sides. Tightening torque 2 Nm.
  9. Pull sections -1- and -4- upward apart. see scheme 114
  10. Pry guide rails -3- out of catch of section -1-.
  11. Separate sections -1- and -4-.
  12. Remove bolts -2- (3x). Tightening torque 2.5 Nm.
  13. Remove rack -1-.
  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.

  3. Unscrew bolts -2- (2x). Tightening torque 4 Nm
  4. Detach convertible top compartment center section -3- from side section -4- on right.
  5. Pull side sections -1- and -2- apart.
  6. Remove bolts -3- (4x) from inner lid. Tightening torque 2 Nm
  7. Detach inner lid -1-.
  8. Unscrew bolts -1- (4x) on both sides. Tightening torque 2 Nm.
  9. Pull sections -1- and -4- upward apart. see scheme 119
  10. Pry guide rail -3- out of catch of section -1-.
  11. Separate sections -1- and -4-.
  12. Unscrew bolts -2- on left and right. Tightening torque 1 Nm.
  13. Push guide rail -1- downward and out of locking tabs.
  14. Remove guide rail -1-.
  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.
