| CAUTION | Camshaft sprockets are not keyed nor do they have alignment marks. Alignment of camshafts for proper valve timing is accomplished through the camshaft locking plates located on end of camshaft, between camshaft sprocket and retaining bolts. The larger hole on both of the camshaft locking plates should point toward the center of the engine when number one cylinder is at TDC (compression stroke). To properly align the camshafts, the camshaft holder (3243) must be used. For complete camshaft timing procedures, see TIMING BELT . |
| CAUTION | DO NOT allow engine to turn with timing belt removed. |
Removal
- Remove timing belt. See «TIMING BELT»(ref-122049-S23893022732001091300000). Remove valve cover. See «VALVE COVER»(ref-122049-S17281725152001091300000). Remove Hall sender (left cylinder head) or vacuum pump (right cylinder head). Remove camshaft sprocket. Mark camshaft bearing caps for installation in same location.
- Remove camshaft bearing caps No. 2 and 3 (middle caps). Remove camshaft bolts from camshaft bearing caps No. 1 and 4, loosening bolts alternately in a diagonal pattern. Remove camshaft bearing caps No. 1 and 4. Remove camshaft. (Схема №17)
