Front Inner Fender Replacement

Special Tools Required

Note. Use the special tool to remove the clips. Take care not to scratch the body.

Scheme 102: Front Inner Fender Replacement
  1. Remove the front inner fender (A). Remove the screws (B) from the rear of the front wheel arch, then remove the splash guard (C) (Canadian model). From under the front bumper (D), remove the bolts (E) securing the front bumper, splash shield (F), and front inner fender, and remove the clip (G) securing the front bumper and front inner fender. From the wheel arch, remove the clips (H, I) securing the front inner fender (and splash shield) to the body. Release the hook (J) of the splash shield, then remove the front inner fender.
  2. Install the inner fender in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Splash Shield Replacement

Scheme 103: Splash Shield Replacement
  1. Remove the splash shield (A). Remove the clips (B, C) that secure the front inner fender (D) and splash shield to the body. From under the front bumper (E), remove the bolts (F) (with engine undercover). From under the body, remove the bolts (G) and clips (H, I). Release the hooks (J) of the splash shield, then pull the splash shield out.
  2. Install the splash shield in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

  1. Remove the front inner fender as needed (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ).
  2. Open the door, and remove the clips that secure the front fender fairing (A). Remove the upper clip (B) from outside the door, and the lower clip (C) from inside the door.
  3. Release the clips (A, B) from the wheel arch.
  4. Remove the front fender fairing (C).
  5. Install the fender fairing in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Before installing the clips in the door opening area, install the front fender fairing (A) on the front fender (B) as shown. Push the clips into place securely.

Rear Inner Fender Replacement

Scheme 107: Rear Inner Fender Replacement
  1. Remove the rear suspension damper unit (see «DAMPER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/wheel-hubs/#rear-suspension) ).
  2. Remove the rear inner fender (A). Remove the screws (B) and clip (C) from the rear bumper (D) and from the front and rear of the rear inner fender. Remove the clips (E, F). On the front of the rear wheel arch, remove the screws (G) securing the side sill (H) and rear inner fender. Pull out the rear inner fender. NOTE: Left side shown, right side is similar.
  3. Install the inner fender in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

  1. Remove the rear bumper (see «REAR BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers__rear-bumper-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Remove the clips and the rear bumper side spacer (A).
  3. Detach the hooks (A), then remove the rear air outlet (B). Take care not to scratch the body.
  4. Install the air outlet by pushing on the hook portions until the hooks snap into place.

Scheme 110

Scheme 110: Rear Wheel Arch Protector Replacement
  1. Remove the rear wheel arch protector (A) by pulling it away from the wheel arch.
  2. Apply clear weatherstrip sealant (B) into the channel of the wheel arch protector all the way around.
  3. To reinstall the rear wheel arch protector, align it with the rear of the wheel arch, and then push it into place securely.

Side Undercarriage Cover Replacement

  1. Remove the side undercarriage covers (A). Remove the clips (B) and bolts (C). Remove the bolts (D) securing the side undercarriage cover and fuel tank cover (E).
  2. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Rear Undercarriage Cover Replacement

  1. Remove the clips (A) and bolts (B), then remove the rear undercarriage cover (C). Take care not to scratch the rear bumper.
  2. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.
