Scheme 113: Trunk Lid Adjustment
  1. Remove these items: Trunk side trim panel, both sides (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) ) Rear shelf (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SHELF AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-shelf-area) ) Trunk lid support strut, both sides (see «TRUNK LID SUPPORT STRUT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#trunk-lid) )
  2. Slightly loosen the trunk hinge bolts (A).
  3. Adjust the trunk lid (B) alignment in the following sequence: Adjust the trunk lid hinges (C) right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes. Take care not to hit the rear window when loosening the bolts. Turn the trunk lid edge cushions (D), in or out as necessary, to make the trunk lid fit flush with the body at the rear and side edges. Using a TORX T30 bit, loosen the striker bolts (E), and adjust the fit between the trunk lid and the trunk lid opening by moving the striker (F).
  4. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
  5. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.
  6. Reinstall all remaining removed parts.

Note. Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the support strut. Take care not to scratch the body and trunk lid.

Scheme 114: Trunk Lid Support Strut Replacement
  1. Remove these items (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) ): Spare tire lid Trunk rear trim panel Trunk front trim panel Trunk side trim panel, both sides Trunk upper trim panel
  2. Remove the bolts from the body.
  3. Remove the pivot bolt (A) from the trunk lid, then remove the support strut (B).
  4. Install the support strut in the reverse order of removal.

Note. Take care not to scratch the trunk lid.

Scheme 115: Trunk Lid Striker Replacement
  1. Remove the bolts (A), from the trunk lid.
  2. Remove the screw (B), then remove the trunk lid striker (C).
  3. Install the trunk lid striker in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 116: Trunk Lid Weatherstrip Replacement
  1. Remove the trunk lid weatherstrip (A) by pulling it off.
  2. Apply clear weatherstrip sealant (B) into the channel of the trunk lid weatherstrip all the way around.
  3. Locate the painted alignment mark (C or D) on the trunk lid weatherstrip. Align the painted mark in the center of the tailgate opening, and install the trunk lid weatherstrip all the way around in the direction shown. Make sure there are no wrinkles in the weatherstrip.
  4. Check for water leaks.

Scheme 117: Trunk Lid Dynamic Damper Replacement
  1. Remove the bolts, then remove the trunk lid dynamic damper (A). Take care not to scratch the trunk lid.
  2. Install the damper in the reverse order of removal.

Note. Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the trunk lid hinge arms. Take care not to scratch the body and trunk lid. Put on gloves to protect your hands.

  1. Remove these items: Trunk side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) ) Trunk lid trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK LID»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-lid) )
  2. Disconnect the trunk lid harness connector (A), then detach the clip (B). Using a TORX T30 bit, remove the bolts, then remove the trunk lid (C), and pull the trunk lid harness out through the trunk lid.
  3. Detach the harness clip (A) from the right trunk hinge arm. From both sides, remove the bolts, and release the hook (B), then remove the trunk hinge arm (C) from the trunk lid hinge (D).
  4. Release the double-sided adhesive tapes (A), and using a trim tool, detach the pins (B) of the trunk lid shield (C), then remove the trunk lid shield and the grommet (D).
  5. Install the hinge in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Scrape off the remaining double-sided adhesive tape from the shield, then clean the shield surface with a sponge dampened in alcohol. Apply the new adhesive tape (A) to the trunk lid shield (B). Before installing the trunk lid, replace the trunk lid insulation washers (C) and the trunk lid mounting bolts with new ones. Push the adhesive portions into place securely.
