Hood Opener Cable Replacement
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

- Remove these items: Upper grille cover (see «UPPER GRILLE COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__upper-grille-cover-replacement) ) Headlight, left side (see «LEFT SIDE»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-lights/#exterior-lights) ) Radiator tank, as needed Front inner fender, left side as necessary (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel, left side (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ).
- Using a clip remover, detach the clips, and remove the grommet (C) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the cable in the reverse order of removal. NOTE: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
Trunk Lid Opener Cable Replacement

- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable from the trunk inside lever (see «TRUNK LID LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers__trunk-lid-latch-replacement) ).
- Remove the trunk lid opener cable (A) and the clip (B) from the opener cable bracket (C).
- Use a clip remover to release the clip (D). Remove the cushion tapes (E).
- Remove the trunk lid opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown. Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

- Remove the upper grille (see «UPPER GRILLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__upper-grille-replacement) ).
- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch cover (A).
- Disconnect the hood latch switch connector (A), then remove the connector clip from the body.
- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body.
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly and the hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly. Make sure the cable actuates the latch before you close the hood. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see step 4 under «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
Trunk Lid Latch Replacement

- Remove these items (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) ): Trunk rear trim panel Trunk side trim panel, right side
- Remove the bolts, then remove the trunk inside lever (A) from the body. Take care not to kink the opener cable.
- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cables (A, B) from the joint bushings (C). Take care not to kink the opener cables. NOTE: Check the bushing for damage, and replace if necessary.
- Disconnect the actuator connector (A), then remove the connector clip (B). Remove the trunk lid opener cable (C) from the clip (D) on the body. Take care not to kink the opener cable.
- Remove the bolts (E) and loosen the bolt (F), then remove the latch.
- Pull the trunk lid latch (A) away to release the bolt (B) from the hole (C) in the body.
- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the joint bushing (B). NOTE: Check the bushing for damage, and replace if necessary.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connector is plugged in properly and the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.
Scheme 103
- Remove the bolt, and release the hook (A), then remove the hood release handle (B) from the dashboard.
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (C) from the hood release handle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the hood opens properly.
Fuel Fill Door Latch/Actuator Replacement

- Remove the left trunk side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) ).
- Remove the fuel door latch/actuator (A). Remove the fuel door latch by turning it 90° from the body. Disconnect the actuator connector (B). Loosen the screws, then remove the actuator (C) by sliding it forward.
- Install the rear fuel door latch/actuator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows. Make sure the door opens properly and locks securely.
