Two headsets are supplied with the system as standard. The number of headsets that can be used is unlimited as long as they are within range of the IR transmitters. Transfer of audio between DVD devices and the wireless headsets is via infrared signals. There must not be any obstacles blocking the transmitter, which is located at the top of the screen, and the receivers, which are on the side of the headsets. If the path is blocked, the signal will be interrupted and the sound quality affected. Select sound source, or, via control button: and (channel B).
The headsets are activated using a button on one side of the headsets. The headsets switch off automatically if an IR signal is not received within 3-4 minutes.
DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
The control module has a built-in diagnostic system, Volvo Diagnostic, which continuously monitors internal functions as well as input and output signals.
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects a fault.
If a fault disappears for any reason after the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been permanently stored in the control module, information about the fault remains in the control module.
READING AND ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
Stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read off and erased using this function. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can only be erased once all the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been read off at least once.

TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
The roof-mounted system for rear seat entertainment (RSE) does not include any diagnostic functions and is not connected to the vehicle's CAN-net.
This means, e. g., that no diagnostic trouble codes can be read out from the unit. All troubleshooting must take place using symptom troubleshooting.
The following is troubleshooting information that may facilitate when troubleshooting in the system.

The system can either be switched on with the POWER button or with the POWER button on the remote control.
If the system is on when the ignition is turned off, a question appears on the monitor if you want to continue using the system for another hour. Within that time, the ignition has to be turned on again, so that the system is not turned off automatically when time is up.
If the system is to be turned on with the remote control, the ignition must be on and the remote control pointed at the monitor/DVD-player.
System start-up
When the ignition is turned on, lighting is turned on in the POWER-button and the system will go to standby mode. When the POWER-button is pressed in, the system is activated and the monitor closes automatically.
The remote control can be used to turn on/off the system and navigate in the menu system
- Switch between audio/video source (DVD and AUX).
- Image adjustment (image color, brightness, contrast and aspect ratio).
- Audio settings (bass, treble, volume and balance).
- Language selection for on-screen instructions.
A permanent memory stores the shown instruction language used as well as current settings for audio and video. These settings are loaded at start with exception of the volume which is set to low level as standard.
The system is powered via X-feed and directly from the battery. If the system is operating when the ignition is switched of, a question will appear on the monitor as to whether continued play is permitted.
If the user answers YES, the system will continue playing for another 1 hour. Then the system will be turned off.
If there is no answer to the question, the system will be turned off in 1 minute.
To prevent the battery from being discharged, it is not possible to extend playing time without turning on the ignition again. There is also a voltage monitor that turns off the system if the battery voltage is too low.
When a DVD is inserted in the opening, DVD play-back starts automatically unless the DVD has a disc menu. DVD play-back can be restarted from a resting position, e. g., if the ignition is turned off when a film is playing. In this case, the film continues playing from where it stopped the last time when the ignition is turned on again.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
After the software has been downloaded, diagnostic services are run if necessary, for example, programming of codes or initialisation of windows.
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects a fault. If a fault disappears for any reason after the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been permanently stored in the control module, information about the fault remains stored in the control module.
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the control module can be read off using this function.
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) must be read off at least once before they can be erased.
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects a fault. 35 diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be stored. A fault which is detected in the most recent operating cycle is defined as permanent. Other faults which are detected are defined as intermittent.

READING OFF EXTENDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION
This function can be used to read parameters, status identifiers and counters stored at the same time as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). These are called frozen values.
