Finishing Work, Installing And Adjusting

1. Align the auxiliary lights - headlamps for optimum beam pattern.
2. Tighten the two screws
3. Install the protective caps on the screw heads.

Scheme 143

1. If the auxiliary lights vibrate and this is disruptive then a top strut can be installed. The strut must be secured in the horns mounting point (1).

1. Turn the ignition key to position "II".
2. Reconnect the battery negative lead
3. Reinstall the floor hatch in the cargo compartment.

1. Pry the light insert from the lamp housing using the tool supplied.

1. Install the rubber grommet and the metal ring on the lamp housing.

1. Install the mounting in the required way on the lamp housing. Use two screws and two washers.

1. Insert the cables through the lamp housing
2. Install the flat pin contactors on both the cables
3. Supply the blue cable (BL) with a socket housing to prevent short-circuits
4. Connect the blue cable (BL) to the cable for the lamp
5. Connect the black cable (SB) to ground on the light insert.

1. Assemble the light insert and the lamp housing. Carefully stretch the cables
2. Install the spot lamp on the bracket.

Fog Lamp Protectors

Note. Carry out all procedures in these instructions on both the left and right-hand sides of the car.

1. Clean the lens of the fog lamps and the surrounding surfaces. Wipe dry.

1. Position the fog lamp protector (see the marking on the top edge) over the cut out for the fog lamp in the bumper cover. CAUTION: Ensure that the fog lamp protector is positioned correctly over the cut out so that the markings for the clip positions are correct.
2. Mark out the position for the clips using a piece of tape or similar on the bumper cover. The clips must be positioned opposite the centers of the holes in the fog lamp protector on the right and left-hand sides as illustrated
3. Remove the fog lamp protector.

1. Take two clips and two plastic nuts from the kit. Press the plastic nuts into the clips.

1. Remove the backing from the clips
2. Insert the clips at the tape markings in the gap between the fog lamp protectors and the bumper cover. Ensure that the tape on the clips does not catch on the bumper cover. If necessary use a plastic weatherstrip tool to widen the gap
3. Align the clips at the tape markings. Press the clips securely into the bumper cover.

1. Remove the two tape markings
2. Install the two screws. Tighten the fog lamp protector.

Fog lamps

Note. This accessory requires software unique to the car.

Finishing

1. Reinstall the air baffle(s), if applicable
2. Lower the car.

1. Remove the cover (1) for the fuse holder
2. Install a 15A fuse: in terminal 3 for cars from model year 2000 inclusive. in terminal 18 for cars from model year 01- inclusive
3. Reinstall the cover.

Remove

1. the side panel (1). First slacken off the screw clip at the rear edge of the panel. Pull the panel outward and backward
2. the soundproofing panel (2). First remove the screws (3). Then pry off the soundproofing panel at the rear edge, where it is secured using three clips (4).

1. Install the relay (1) from the kit in the relay holder socket marked MI11
2. Reinstall the soundproofing panel and the side panel.

1. Remove the cover (1) on the lighting control panel
2. Install the fibre optic (2) and the button (3) from the kit. Press the button into place
3. Program the software. See the appropriate service information.
4. Check the function. Align the lamps.

Connection And Finishing Work

Illustration 7A

1. Take the cable harness from the kit. Connect the short cable (1) to the left-hand fog lamp. Connect the long cable to the right-hand fog lamp
2. Press the cable into place in the two clamps (2)
3. Connect the connector (3) to the pre-routed connector at the left-hand fender liner.

1. Press the cable harness for the right-hand fog lamp into place under the air intake. Use the existing clamps (1).

1. Reinstall the air baffles.

1. Remove the cover (1) for the fuse holder
2. Install a 15 A fuse in terminal 3 for model year 2000 cars. in terminal 18 for model year 01 cars-.
3. Reinstall the cover.

1. Remove the side panel (1). Slacken off the screw clip at the rear edge of the panel. Pull the panel outward / backward
2. Remove the soundproofing panel (2). Carefully pry it loose. Use a weatherstrip tool or similar. The soundproofing panel is secured with three clips (3).

1. Install the relay (1) from the kit in the relay holder socket marked MI11
2. Reinstall the soundproofing panel and the side panel.

1. Remove the cover (1) from the lighting control panel
2. Install the light bulb (2)
3. Install the button (3) from the kit. Press the button into place
4. Program the software. See the appropriate service information.
5. Check the function. Align the lamps.

Scheme 160

1. Open the bonnet
2. Clean the headlamp lens
3. Take the mounting strips for the headlamp guards from the kit
4. Pry up the weatherstrip for the headlamp. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool
5. Insert the mounting strip between the top of the headlamp and the weatherstrip. Position the mounting strip as illustrated.

Scheme 161

1. Remove the two clips from the kit. Check that the tab (1) is angled a few millimeters below the other surface. If it is not, bend the tab down as illustrated.

1. Press the two clips into the gap between the lower edge of the headlamp and the weatherstrip, approximately at the point illustrated. Use the headlamp guard as a template.

1. Insert a plastic weatherstrip tool between the weatherstrip and the clips. Bend the tab down further on the clips to ensure that the clips are secure.

Note. Do not damage the paint work.

Scheme 164

1. Remove the protective film from the headlamp guard (from the kit).

Applies to cars without headlamp washers

1. Position the headlamp guard opposite the headlamp.

Applies to cars with headlamp washers

1. Fold the headlamp washer out
2. Position the headlamp guard so that the cut out in the lower edge is opposite the two stops (4) for the headlamp washer.

Applies to all cars

1. Hook the headlamp guard into place in the holes (1) in the lower edge of the two clips (2). These clips slide sideways to suit the holes in the headlamp guard
2. Fold up the headlamp guard towards the mounting strip (3).

Note. Ensure that the stop does not catch the headlamp guard when folding it upwards on cars with headlamp washers. Lift the guard slightly so that the stop is positioned in the cut out.

Scheme 165

Hook the headlamp guard into place. Secure the hook on the previously installed mounting strip in the hole in the top edge of the headlamp guard as follows

1. Slide the mounting strip forward as far as possible. Ensure that the mounting strip is not concealed under the weatherstrip. Press the front edge of the mounting strip downwards. Slide the hole for the headlamp guards over the hook. Secure the hook in the hole.

Scheme 166

1. Grasp the free end of the mounting strip. Pull the mounting strip backwards. Hook the mounting strip around the edge in the headlamp. At the same time, press the headlamp guard towards the headlamp
2. Check that the guard is properly secured.

Removing Headlamp Guard

The headlamp guards must be removed when using a car wash. Carry out the procedure in points 1, 5, 6, 7 reverse order.

The headlamp guards must also be removed when cleaning the headlamps and the inside of the headlamp guards. This must be carried out regularly to prevent deterioration in the function of the headlamps.

Note. Do not use strong washing agents which can affect the transparency of the headlamps and therefore the function.

Note. The headlamp guard is a perishable component which must be replaced when necessary. When replacing the headlamp guards, all the components in the kit must be used. Do not reuse the old components.

1. Remove the headlamp guard. See «Removing Headlamp Guard»(ref-407159-S02765841572011070100000)
2. Remove the clips by pressing up the tab on the clip using a plastic weatherstrip tool as illustrated.

Note. To remove the inner clips, slide the clips sideways so that they are positioned opposite the hole for the headlamp washer shaft. See illustration A.

1. Insert a small screwdriver or weatherstrip tool. Press in the tab on the clip at the same time as pulling outwards. See illustration B
2. Remove the outer clips. See the earlier description in «Removing Outer Clips»(ref-407159-S05800519922011070100000) .

Mounting Kit For The Front Reading Lamp, Front Seat

Note. The reading lamp is not included in the kit. The reading lamp must be purchased separately.

Scheme 170

1. Unhook the upholstery on the passenger seat at the front edge near the center console. Fold the upholstery to one side.

Scheme 171

1. Wipe the seat frame clean on the marked surface at the center console as illustrated
2. Remove the backing from the piece of tape. Apply the tape around the seat frame so that the tape joins at the reverse of the seat frame.

Scheme 172

1. Install the lamp mounting on the piece of tape around the seat frame as close to the center console as possible. Tighten the mounting using the screw (1)
2. Adjust the lamp mounting to the desired position. Tighten using the screw (2)
3. Install the reading lamp in the mounting. Connect the cable to the cigarette lighter socket.

Scheme 173

1. Remove the lamp glass. First carefully pry off the top edge of the lamp using a small screwdriver.

Preparations, Front

Applies to cars with manual gearboxes

1. Turn the ignition key to position "0", and take the key from the ignition switch.

Applies to cars with automatic gearboxes

1. Turn the ignition key to position "I".

Applies to all cars

1. Disconnect the battery negative lead. NOTE: Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

1. Press in the centers of the six clips until a click is heard. Remove the clips.
2. Pull the top edge of the front forward.
3. Put your hand into the inside and press the four catches, which are evenly spaced along the top edge - up. Use a weatherstrip tool if necessary.
4. Pull the front grille at the top until the catches release.

Illustration A applies to the V70

1. Detach the front grille at the bottom by inserting a small screwdriver between the openings and pressing the three catches down.
2. Remove the front grille and place it to one side.

Intake Manifold

1. Remove the intake manifold (1).

1. Lift up the air cleaner (ACL) module by detaching it from its three mountings: one at the rear, one in the front and one at the left-hand end face. Use a small socket with an extension to press the four catches together, and detach the air cleaner (ACL) module.

1. Move the air cleaner (ACL) module aside and affix it using a cord for example, as illustrated.

1. Move the rubber seal (1) aside, on the left-hand side behind the front grille. Take the cable harness (2) from the kit and position it in the engine compartment. Following which, route the cable harness to the left of the headlamp at the top and through the cut-out in the body at the rubber seal.
2. Move the rubber seal back, and make sure that it seals firmly.

Installing And Finishing

1. Grip the front grille (1) and guide the cable harness (2) through the sixth hole (3), counting from the left-hand headlamp.
2. Reinstall the front grille and the clips which hold the front at the top.

Remove

1. the number plate
2. the screws (1) for the number plate, and detach it.

1. Install the lamp housing on the auxiliary lights mounting with screw and nut. Tighten manually.

1. Route the cable harness (1) with rubber grommet (1) into the holes in the lamp housing.
2. Press the rubber grommet into the hole.

1. Connect the blue (BL) cable to the lamp's cable, with a connector socket housing in between.
2. Connect the black (SB) cable to ground on the light insert.

1. Assemble the auxiliary light, as illustrated.

1. Take the previously routed cable harness (1) and route it as illustrated.
2. Plug the connector (2) into the pre-routed connector.
3. Press in the relay (3) at the edge of the plate.
4. Detach the existing screw (4) in the air cleaner (ACL) module bracket and connect the ground cable. Pull any excess length of the cable through the front grille and clamp it with the existing cables behind the headlamp using tie straps from the kit.
5. Reinstall the air cleaner (ACL) module and the intake manifold. NOTE: Check that the cables are not pressed against sharp edges. If so, rectify this by improving their attachment method.

1. Remove the cover from the fuse box in the engine compartment. Install a 20A fuse in position 2 (1).
2. Reinstall the cover.

Installing The Switch, Applies To Cars Up To And Including Model Year -2004

1. Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Pry off the panel using a plastic weatherstrip tool.
2. Apply the handbrake, and move the gear selector lever as far back as possible.

1. Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.

1. Carefully angle the dashboard environment panel using a plastic weatherstrip tool, so that the short side of the dashboard environment panel can be gripped with a couple of fingers.
2. Remove the dashboard environment panel by pulling it straight down while maintaining the angle. The panel is fitted securely, so some force is required to detach it.
3. Unplug the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side. NOTE: If any of the outer hooks fail then this must be rectified. See the section on the dashboard in the appropriate article.

1. Remove the cigarette lighter.
2. Fit the dashboard environment panel as illustrated.
3. Detach the surround (1) by carefully pressing the three catches (2) down in the holes (3) with a small screwdriver while prizing out the surround with a thin plastic weatherstrip tool. Start at the 12V socket (4) and prize up one corner. The surround is secured firmly so take care of the components. NOTE: A surround with three button locations can be replaced with a surround with seven button locations if required. This is available for purchasing separately.

Installing The Switch, Applies To All Cars From Model Year 2005

1. Remove the cover plug to the 12V socket.

1. Carefully remove the panel for the keypad using a scriber with angled tip. Pull out one corner of the panel using the scriber until the catches release. It is secured with three catches on each long side. Continue to pull along the panel until all catches have released.

1. Remove the dummy button and install the new switch (1) in any available position.
2. Reinstall the surround and the cover plug.

1. Align the auxiliary lights - headlamps for optimum beam pattern.
2. Tighten the two screws
3. Install the protective caps on the screw heads.

1. If the auxiliary lights vibrate and this is disruptive then a top strut can be installed. The strut must be secured in the horn's mounting point (1).

1. Turn the ignition key to position "II".
2. Reconnect the battery negative lead.
3. Reinstall the floor hatch in the cargo compartment.
