Installing the Sensor Module

CAUTIONAvoid touching the sensor module terminal pins. There is a risk of static discharge which may damage the sensor module.

WARNINGThe battery must not be connected when the sensor module is removed or installed.
  1. Install the connector to the sensor module by following the directional arrow (1) in the illustration.
  2. Lock the sensor module connector in place by folding the striker plate (2) back until it has passed the catch. This must be done before the sensor module is in place.
  1. Install the sensor module (3 x Torx 30). Tightening torque for the sensor module: 10 Nm. CAUTION: The screws have pressed sheet metal threads and must be positioned so that the existing thread is not damaged. Take care not to damage the thread when installing screws. NOTE: Use the old screws When using replacement screws, use a type approved for connection to ground. CAUTION: It is important that the sensor module is securely mounted onto the bodywork if it is to operate properly. The electrical ground connection is direct through the mounting screws. It is therefore very important that the mounting screws are in good contact with the bodywork.

Scheme 755: Installing the Center Console
  1. The parking brake must be applied and the gear selector lever in neutral.
  2. Install the center console by carefully lowering it and pushing it forward a little at the same time.
  3. If the car has a manual gearbox
  4. Install the gear selector lever boot. Push the gear selector lever boot through the opening in the center console and press the trim into the center console.
  1. Connect the connectors at the front of the center console.

Install

  1. the 2 Torx 15 screws at the front of the center console.
  2. the cover for the handbrake opening.
  3. the 2 Torx 20 screws under the panel in the center console locker.
  4. the panel in the center console locker. NOTE: Install the rear edge of the panel first.

Scheme 757: Installing the Cigarette Lighter Compartment

Install

  1. the 2 connectors for the cigarette lighter socket and bulb holder in the cigarette lighter compartment.
  2. the OBD-II connector to the cigarette lighter compartment. Press in the connector and slide it to the side.
  3. the cigarette lighter compartment (2 Torx 20 screws).
  4. the OBD-II cover.
  5. the cigarette lighter.
CAUTIONAfter a collision in which the SRS system has been activated, always replace both seat belt tensioners and buckles, even if there was no passenger in the passenger seat.

Scheme 758: Removing Front Seat Storage Compartment
  1. Front seat as far forward as possible.
  2. Remove seat storage compartment by lifting up its front edge and pushing it back. The figure shows a mechanical front seat. For power seat, disconnect connector from power seat control module. The control module is located under the seat.

Note. If the seat is not equipped with a SIPS bag, continue on next step.

WARNINGIf the front seat is equipped with a SIPS bag this must be secured before starting work. Use the transport safety device in the holder on the inside of the seat compartment cover on the inside of a SIPS seat. Never apply external force to side of seat.
  1. Remove the transport safety device from the holder on the inside of the cover. (On all SIPS seats.)
  2. Install the transport safety device on the SIPS sensor.

Scheme 759: Removing Front Seat
  1. Remove seat belt from seat mounting (1 x 12 mm bolt).
  2. Push seat forward.
  3. Remove panels and 2 mounting bolts (14 mm) from the rear edge of the seat rails.
  4. Push seat back.
  5. Remove panel and 2 mounting bolts (14 mm) from the front edge of the seat rails.
  1. Make a note of radio code if anti theft coded radio installed.
  2. Ignition off.
  1. Disconnect battery negative lead.
  2. Disconnect the connectors from the front seat (under the seat by the front edge of the seat rail).
  3. Lift the seat straight up so that the guide pins on the underside of the seat rails are freed from their holes in the floor.

Scheme 760: Removing Seat Belt Buckle
  1. Remove bolt from the seat belt buckle. Make a note of the routing of cables and the location of cable ties.
  2. Cut cable ties.
  3. Remove seat belt buckle with cable.

Note. Cabling is routed differently in fixed seats, mechanical seats and power seats with and without memory. The figure shows a mechanical front seat.
