FLUID RESERVOIR
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331/ (5 to 50 Nm)
- ROB 134 APF or succeeding model.
- Workshop Hoist -VAS 6100
- Engine sling 2024 A
Note. Under certain conditions, the reservoir and the dryer/dryer bag does not need to be replaced each time the refrigerant circuit is opened. Refer to NOT REPLACING RESERVOIR/FLUID RESERVOIR OR DRYER BAG/CARTRIDGE, CONDITIONS . If the vehicle has a condenser manufactured by Denso (1K0 820 411 E) then changing the dryer is not required.
Removing
When working on the refrigerant circuit, note the information, refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, SPECIALIZED REPAIRS .
Note. Observe notes. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT COMPONENTS . Refrigerant must be extracted before hand using ROB 134 APF. The previously used service stations can still be used. To prevent the ingress of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.
Extract refrigerant using ROB 134 APF, only then open the refrigerant circuit.
Remove, depending on the charge air system engine components.
Scheme 46
Remove the radiator mounting bolts (7 Nm) -arrows-.
Hang cooler on VAS 6100 and 2024 A using workshop equipment (cable ties or welding wire) and unhook cooler from lock carrier, coolant hoses and refrigerant lines remain connected.
Scheme 47
Unscrew mounting bolt -2- and remove retaining clip.
| WARNING | Danger due to refrigerant coming out under pressure. Danger of frost bite to skin and other parts of the body. Extract the refrigerant and immediately open the refrigerant circuit after that. If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes in the past and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Pressure in the refrigerant circuit is caused by evaporation. |
Remove bolts -1- and pull fluid reservoir with dryer upward and out.
Note. Depending on condenser, bolt -1- may also only be installed once.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following
First tighten bolt(s) -1- to 4.2 Nm ± 0.7 Nm and then mounting bolt -2-.
Note. When installing cooler, ensure that sealing strips are seated correctly on cooler.
CONDENSATION WATER DRAIN HOSE ON HEATING AND A/C UNIT
Remove front passenger side footwell cover.
Note. The condensation water hose -1- must be able to be connected to connection of heating and A/C unit without pretension. Condensation water hose must sit securely on connection for condensation water hose on heating and A/C unit.
