INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Apply a light coat of engine oil to 4 new O-rings and install them to the 4 camshaft timing oil control valve assemblies. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 New O-ring Install the 4 oil control valves with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that each O-ring is not cracked or does not jump out of position during installation. Connect the 4 oil control valve connectors. Install the bolt and connect the wire harness clamp to install the engine wire. Torque: 14 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 5»(ref-394807-S18555417542011040800000)
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH HOSE See step 2
  4. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 5»(ref-394766-S42184332442011040800000)
  5. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1»(ref-394811-S38297024892011040800000)
  6. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK Start the engine, and check that there are no oil leaks.
  7. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 102»(ref-394762-S15565938342011040800000)

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-394610-S11154682782011040800000) .
  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 19»(ref-394762-S33056477402011040800000)
  3. REMOVE ECM Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors and remove the ECM with the brackets. NOTE: After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting part of the connectors. Push in the locks on the 2 levers, raise the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. Remove the 3 nuts and separate the ECM with the brackets. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

  1. INSTALL ECM Install the 2 brackets to the ECM with the 4 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf) Install the ECM with the 3 nuts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: When connecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not become stuck between the connectors and other parts. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely locked.
  2. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 102»(ref-394762-S15565938342011040800000)
  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-394610-S11154682782011040800000) .
  4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION HINT: Initialization cannot be completed by only disconnecting and reconnecting the cable of the negative (-) battery terminal. Perform Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-394610-S11154682782011040800000) . Register the ECM communication ID for the immobiliser system when replacing the ECM. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-394610-S11154682782011040800000) . Perform Initialization when replacing the ECM See step 8 .

  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY Install the accelerator pedal sensor assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) NOTE: Avoid physical shocks to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. Connect the accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector.

  2. REMOVE CRANK POSITION SENSOR Disconnect the crank position sensor connector. Remove the bolt and crank position sensor.

  1. INSPECT CRANK POSITION SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Component without harness connected (Crank Position Sensor) Standard Resistance Temperature Specified Condition Cold 1630 to 2740 ohms Hot 2065 to 3225 ohms HINT: "Cold" and "Hot" mean the temperature of the coils themselves. "Cold" is from -10 to 50°C (14 to 122 °F) and "Hot" is from 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F). If the resistance is not as specified, replace the crank position sensor.

  1. INSTALL CRANK POSITION SENSOR Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring on the crank position sensor. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 O-ring Install the crank position sensor with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the crank position sensor connector.

  2. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Install the 6 ignition coils with the 6 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the 6 ignition coil connectors. Connect the 3 wire harness clamps.

  1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 (E2) - 2 (THW) 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms 1 (E2) - 2 (THW) 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kohms NOTE: If checking the sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to contact the terminals. After checking, wipe the water off the sensor. If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
  1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Install a new gasket onto the engine coolant temperature sensor. Install the engine coolant temperature sensor. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 72»(ref-394762-S15565938342011040800000)

TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Component without harness connected (Heated Oxygen Sensor) Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 (HT) - 2 (+B) 20°C (68°F) 11 to 16 ohms 1 (HT) - 4 (E) - 10 kohms or higher If the resistance is not as specified, replace the oxygen sensor.
