INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring, and install it to the oil control valve. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 New O-ring Install the oil control valve with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the oil control valve (connecting surface with cylinder head cover). Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the oil control valve. Connect the oil control valve connector.

  3. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new gasket to the intake manifold. Install the fuel tube bracket with the bolt. Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf) Install the throttle body assembly with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle body. Connect the throttle body assembly connector. Connect the fuel tube to the clamp.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Connect the air-cleaner cap sub-assembly to the throttle body assembly and lock the hose band. Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover. Connect the mass air flow meter connector and install the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner cap. Install the hose to the hose clamp.
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 1»(ref-394773-S31790621482011040800000)
  4. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 4»(ref-394767-S31646656722011040800000)

  12. PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body is cleaned. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the cable. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-394610-S11154682782011040800000) . Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-394618-S22943830982011040800000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated. After the engine is warmed up, check that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off. Standard Condition Engine Idle Speed A/C switched off 600 to 700 rpm NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in N. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner bracket.
  11. REMOVE ECM Separate the 3 wire harness clamps. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting each connector, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting part of the connector. Remove the 3 bolts and the ECM with bracket. Remove the 5 screws and the ECM bracket.

  1. INSTALL ECM Install the bracket to the ECM with the 5 screws. Install the ECM with the 3 bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: When connecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not become stuck between the connector and other part. Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered. Install the 3 wire harness clamps.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER BRACKET Install the air cleaner bracket with the 2 bolts. Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)

  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY Install the accelerator pedal sensor assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) NOTE: Avoid physical shocks to the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. Connect the accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector.

Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Cold 1630 to 2740 ohms Hot 2065 to 3225 ohms HINT: In the table above, the terms "Cold" and "Hot" refer to the temperature of the coils. "Cold" means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). "Hot" means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F). If the result is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   1. INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR Install the sensor with the bolt so that the sensor is angled as shown in the illustration. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) NOTE: The acceptable installation angle of the sensor is between 7° upward and 10° downward from the horizontal position. Connect the sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD Install the intake manifold. Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-394789-S20922444402011040800000) .

  1. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR Using SST, install the air fuel ratio sensor to the exhaust manifold. SST: 09224-00010 without SST Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) NOTE: The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.). The "with SST" torque value is effective when using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.). Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-394610-S15308785942011040800000) . Scheme 60: INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 (HT) - 2 (+B) 20°C (68°F) 11 to 16 ohms 1 (HT) - 4 (E) - 10 kohms or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor. Scheme 61: INSTALLATION
  1. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Using SST, install the heated oxygen sensor to the front exhaust pipe. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Fulcrum Length 30 mm *2 Fulcrum Length 300 mm SST: 09224-00010 without SST Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) NOTE: The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.). The "with SST" torque value is effective when using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.). Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-394610-S15308785942011040800000) . This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector. Install the wire harness to wire harness clamp.
  2. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
  4. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

Scheme 62: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT IG2 RELAY Remove the IG2 relay from the relay block. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 No battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
