INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it onto the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly with the bolt. Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector. Install the vacuum hose clamp with the bolt. Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)
  2. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 93»(ref-427451-S42445433332011101200000)

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold. Install the throttle body assembly with the 4 bolts. Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle body connector. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose and lock the 3 clamps. Tighten the air cleaner hose clamp. Connect the ventilation hose. Connect the 2 vacuum hoses and No. 1 vacuum switching valve connector. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps and the mass air flow meter connector.
  3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 2»(ref-427457-S17658117032011101200000)
  4. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1»(ref-427468-S39882031752011101200000)
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 93»(ref-427451-S42445433332011101200000)
  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body is cleaned. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the terminal. Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-427310-S22296836352011101200000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up. Standard Condition Engine Idle Speed A/C switched off 600 to 700 RPM NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in N or P. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/ Engine and ECT/ Data List/ Throttle Pos. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
  2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 11»(ref-427451-S32080831592011101200000)

  5. REMOVE ECM Separate the wire harness clamp. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. Push the locks on the 2 levers, then raise the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the connectors. Remove the 3 bolts and the ECM. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

  1. INSTALL ECM Install the 2 ECM brackets onto the ECM with the 4 screws. Install the ECM with the 3 bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 ECM connectors. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: When connecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not get caught between the connectors and other parts. Make sure that the 2 levers are securely locked. Install the wire harness clamp.

  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION HINT: Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the cable from the battery. Perform Reset Memory (AT initialization) when replacing the ECM. (for Automatic Transaxle) HINT: Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-427314-S02101675402011101200000) (for U250E) Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-427313-S03722492042011101200000) (for U140F) Perform Registration (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM.   1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Measure the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms 1 - 2 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kohms NOTE: When checking the engine coolant temperature sensor in water, keep the terminals dry. After checking, wipe the sensor dry. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
  1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Install the engine coolant temperature sensor through a new gasket. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

  19. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR Disconnect the sensor connector. Remove the nut and knock sensor.

  1. INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR Measure the resistance. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 120 to 280 kohms If the result is not as specified, replace the knock sensor.

  1. INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR Install the knock sensor with the nut. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATOR Install the No. 1 intake manifold insulator.
  3. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD Install a new gasket to the intake manifold. Install the intake manifold with the 5 bolts and 2 nuts, and connect the wire harness clamp. Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) Connect the union to check valve hose. Connect the ventilation hose.

  1. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR Using SST, install the air fuel ratio sensor. SST: 09224-00010 without SST Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) NOTE: This torque value can be obtained by using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.8 in.) and SST with a measurement of 30 mm (1.18 in.). Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-427305-S14224765222011101200000) . This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector and wire harness clamp.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Install the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator with the 4 bolts. Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition HT1B - +B 20°C (68°F) 11 to 16 ohms HT1B - E2 - 10 kohms or higher If the resistance is not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor.

  1. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 4WD) Using SST, install the heated oxygen sensor. SST: 09224-00010 without SST Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) with SST Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) NOTE: This torque value can be obtained by using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.8 in.) and SST with a measurement of 30 mm (1.18 in.). Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-427305-S14224765222011101200000) . This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench. Connect the wire harness grommet. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 2WD) Using SST, install the heated oxygen sensor.   1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
  2. REMOVE INTEGRATION NO. 2 RELAY Remove the No. 1 relay block cover. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and then pull the integration relay out of the No. 1 relay block. Disconnect the 3 connectors.
