REMOVAL

  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 1»(ref-428876-S20485076422011101200000)
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-428782-S26161270802011101200000) .
  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 9»(ref-428891-S31717248772011101200000)
  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 10»(ref-428891-S31717248772011101200000)
  5. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle w/ motor body assembly.
  6. REMOVE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Disconnect the throttle w/ motor body assembly connector. Remove the 4 bolts and throttle w/ motor body assembly from the intake air surge tank. Remove the throttle body gasket from the intake air surge tank.

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2 (M+) - 1 (M-) 20°C (68°F) 0.3 to 100 ohms 5 (VC) - 3 (E2) 20°C (68°F) 1.2 to 3.2 kohms If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new throttle body gasket to the intake air surge tank. Install the throttle w/ motor body assembly and wire harness clamp stay to the intake air surge tank with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle w/ motor body assembly connector.
  2. CONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle w/ motor body assembly.
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 4»(ref-428891-S42907847162011101200000)

INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new throttle body gasket to the intake air surge tank. Install the throttle w/ motor body assembly and wire harness clamp stay to the intake air surge tank with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle w/ motor body assembly connector.
  2. CONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle w/ motor body assembly.
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 4»(ref-428891-S22050804542011101200000)

  7. REMOVE ECM Remove the 3 nuts. Separate the ECM from the body. NOTE: When separating the ECM, do not apply excessive force to the wire harness. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors and remove the ECM. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connections of the connectors. Remove the ECM. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

  1. INSTALL ECM Install the 2 ECM brackets with the 4 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: When connecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter is not stuck between the connectors and other parts. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered. Install the ECM to the body. Install the ECM with the 3 nuts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

  1. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector. Remove the 2 nuts and the accelerator pedal assembly.
  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOTE: Avoid physical shock to the accelerator pedal assembly. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal assembly. Install the accelerator pedal assembly with the 2 nuts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) Connect the accelerator pedal connector.
  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 9»(ref-428891-S31717248772011101200000)
  2. REMOVE VVT SENSOR Intake camshaft (Bank 1). Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the VVT sensor. Exhaust camshaft (Bank 1). Remove the windshield wiper link assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-428902-S11188695922011101200000) . Remove the cowl top outside panel front. Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 5»(ref-428870-S14603159912011101200000) . Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the VVT sensor. Exhaust camshaft (Bank 2). Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the VVT sensor. Intake camshaft (Bank 2). Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and the VVT sensor.

Resistance Condition Specified Condition Approx. 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms Approx. 80°C (176°F) 0.31 to 0.326 kohms If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor. NOTE: If checking the ECT sensor in the water, keep the terminals dry. After the check, wipe the sensor.

  1. INSTALL KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR Install the 2 knock control sensors with the 2 bolts as shown in the illustration. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 knock control sensor connectors.
  2. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 18»(ref-428873-S04366991062011101200000)
  3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
  4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
  5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-428782-S26161270802011101200000) .
  6. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 2»(ref-428876-S20485076422011101200000)
  7. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 3»(ref-428876-S20485076422011101200000)
  8. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1»(ref-428895-S35867406742011101200000)
  9. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 14»(ref-428891-S22050804542011101200000)

  1. INSPECT EFI RELAY Inspect EFI relay Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 1D-4 - 1D-6 10 kohms or higher 1D-4 - 1D-6 Below 1 ohms (Apply battery voltage to terminals 1H-10 and 1H-2) If the result is not as specified, replace the engine room junction block assembly.
