HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT

  1. Use these procedures to troubleshoot the power window control system.
  2. *: Use the Techstream.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Standard voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding. NEXT: Go to next step
  3. CHECK FOR DTC* Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output. Clear the DTCs. Recheck for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output in the first step, try to force output of the same DTC by reproducing the symptoms indicated by the DTC. Scheme 1: OPERATION CHECK
  1. CHECK WINDOW LOCK SWITCH HINT: Before performing the window lock switch operation check, make sure that the window lock switch is off (the switch is not pushed in). Check that the front passenger side power window, rear power windows and back door power window cannot be operated when the window lock switch of the multiplex network master switch is pressed. OK Operation of front passenger side power window, rear power windows back door power window is disabled. Check that the front passenger side power window, rear power windows and back door power window can be operated when the window lock switch is pressed again. OK Front passenger side power window, rear power windows and back door power window can be operated.
  2.   6. CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION Check the basic function. WARNING: The jam protection function is operative during both the auto up and manual up operation. Do not put your fingers between the door frame and door glass to check functions. Also, prevent any part of your body from being caught during inspection. HINT: The jam protection function is operative during both the auto up and manual up operation while the engine is running or the ignition switch is turned to ON, and also for 43 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off. Fully open the window. Hold a thick book wrapped with cloth in the position shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Thick Book *2 Cloth Operate the auto up function to check that the power window goes down when the window contacts the book, and stops when the opening reaches approximately 200 mm (7.87 in.). HINT: The power window moves down approximately 125 mm (4.93 in.). However, when the opening does not reach 200 mm (7.87 in.), the power window continues to go down until the opening reaches 200 mm (7.87 in.) or until approximately 5 seconds have elapsed. While the power window is moving down, check that the door glass cannot be moved up even when the power window regulator switch is used.
  7. CHECK KEY-OFF OPERATION FUNCTION Check that all the power windows can be operated with the multiplex network master switch and back door power window regulator switch after the ignition switch is turned off. Check that the key-off operation function does not operate after a front door is opened. Check that none of the power windows can be operated after more than approximately 43 seconds have elapsed since the ignition switch was turned off.
  8. CHECK KEY-LINKED FUNCTION USING DRIVER SIDE DOOR KEY CYLINDER HINT: This inspection is possible only when the key-linked open and close function is set to ON through the customize function using the Techstream (the default setting is OFF). Check that all power windows (except back door power window) operate as follows: OK Condition Door Key Cylinder Operation Power Window No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Held in lock position for more than 1.5 seconds Up (Closes) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Returned to neutral position Stops No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Held in unlock position for more than 1.5 seconds Down (Opens) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Returned to neutral position Stop
  9. CHECK KEY-LINKED FUNCTION USING BACK DOOR KEY CYLINDER Check that back door power windows operate as follows: OK Condition Door Key Cylinder Operation Power Window No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Held in lock position for more than 0.8 seconds Up (Closes) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Returned to neutral position Stops No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Held in unlock position for more than 0.8 seconds Down (Opens) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed Returned to neutral position Stop
  10. CHECK WIRELESS TRANSMITTER-LINKED FUNCTION HINT: This inspection is possible only when the wireless transmitter-linked open and close function is set to ON through the customize function using the Techstream (the default setting is OFF). Check that all power windows operate as follows when operating the transmitter: OK Condition Transmitter Operation Power Window No key is inside vehicle, and all doors are closed and locked UNLOCK switch pressed for more than 3.0 seconds Down (Opens) No key is inside vehicle, and all doors are closed and locked UNLOCK switch released Stops
  11. CHECK SMART-LINKED FUNCTION HINT: This inspection is possible only when the wireless transmitter-linked open and close function is set to ON through the customize function using the Techstream (the default setting is OFF). Check that all power windows operate as follows when operating the transmitter: OK Condition Transmitter Operation Power Window No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed and locked UNLOCK switch pressed for more than 3.0 seconds Down (Opens) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed and locked UNLOCK switch released Stops No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed and locked LOCK switch pressed for more than 3.0 seconds UP (Opens) No key is inside vehicle and all doors are closed and locked LOCK switch released Stops
  12. CHECK POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH LED ILLUMINATION Inspect the power window regulator switch LED illumination for each seat when turning the window lock switch on/off. Driver seat: When the window lock switch is on, check that all LEDs of the multiplex network master switch turn off except for the LED of the switch corresponding to the driver seat. When the window lock switch is off, check that all LEDs of the multiplex network master switch turn on. Front passenger, rear left and rear right seats: When the window lock switch is on, check that the power window regulator switch LED of each seat turns off. When the window lock switch is off, check that the power window regulator switch LED of each seat turns on.
