DTC P0480: RADIATOR COOLING FAN CONTROL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION Suzuki Esteem I

  1. Turn ignition on. With coolant temperature less than 200°F (93°C), measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM 26-pin harness connector "A" terminal No. 20 (Pink/Green wire on Esteem, or Blue wire on Swift). Reading should be 10-14 volts. If voltage is as specified, problem is intermittent or due to a faulty PCM. Go to INTERMITTENTS in «TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES»(ref-91186) article. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove radiator cooling fan relay located in engine compartment relay/fuse block. (Схема №1)or (Схема №2). Measure resistance between cooling fan relay terminals No. 3 and 4. If resistance is 70-110 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 70-110 ohms, replace cooling fan relay. Retest system.
  3. Inspect for open or short between cooling fan relay, fuse and PCM (Black/White or Pink/Green wire on Esteem, or Black/White or Blue wire on Swift). Repair as necessary. If connections and wiring are okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
