CAUTION

1. Connect the connectors and hoses securely during reassembly.
2. After reassembly, make sure functional parts operates smoothly.
3. Be careful with the airbag system wiring harness which passes near electrical parts and switches.
4. Yellow connectors and harnesses with yellow tapes around them are the connectors and harnesses for the airbag system. Using a tester above such circuits may cause malfunction of airbag system. Follow the cautions for the airbag system in this case. < Refer to «CAUTION»(ref-565203-S06105343772013071000000) , General Description. >
5. When connecting the pipe hoses, be careful not to cause bend or blockage.
6. If even a small amount of silicon oil or grease enters tank and washer fluid passages, an oil film will be formed on the glass and will cause the wiper to chatter and judder. Make sure that no oil comes into contact with the system.

GENERAL TOOL

Note. Refer to the data described below, prepare the materials to make a front washer nozzle adjustment tool.

Materials

1. Vertebra of wiper blade which is to be discarded
2. Vinyl tape

Steps of making a front washer nozzle adjustment tool

Scheme 47

1. Bend the vertebra at the position 25 mm (0.98 in) away from its end by 45°.
2. Bend the vertebra at the position 29 mm (1.14 in) away from the other end by 45°.
3. Double up the vertebra so that the longer end (29 mm (1.14 in)) comes upward.
4. Secure the vertebra with a vise (a) so that the tip clearance becomes 5 mm (0.20 in).
5. Bend the vertebra at the position approximately 90 mm (3.54 in) away from the bending point for the longer end.
6. Check that the tip clearance is 5 mm (0.20 in), and secure the vertebra with vinyl tape (b).

1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
2. Remove the steering column cover. Remove the screws by turning the steering wheel to right and left. Release the claws and remove the steering column lower cover. Separate the steering column upper cover and steering upper cover, and remove the steering column upper cover.
3. Remove the wiper switch assembly. Disconnect the connector from wiper switch. Release the claws, and pull out the wiper switch assembly. CAUTION: Do not press the claws with excessive force. They may be damaged.

FRONT

Remove the blade assembly.

1. Lift up the locking clip (A).
2. Turn the blade assembly in the arrow direction.
3. Press the arm in.
4. Pull out the arm while lifting it, and remove the blade assembly from the arm.

REAR

Turn the blade in the direction of arrow (A) and remove it from arm.

Pull side (A) of the wiper rubber stopper and remove the rubber from the blade assembly.

Pull the wiper rubber top slightly from stopper (A) and pull out completely.

1. Insert the wiper rubber onto the blade so that the stopper is in the position shown in the figure.
2. Make sure the wiper rubber is securely fastened to the pull stopper (A).

1. Insert the wiper rubber into claw (B).
2. Insert the wiper rubber until its top end protrudes approx. 20 mm (0.79 in) from stopper (D).
3. Insert the wiper rubber into claw (A).

WASHER MOTOR

Apply battery voltage to the connector terminal of the washer motor and make sure that the motor operates.

1. Check the connection status of washer fluid level sensor connector.
2. Does the low washer fluid warning light illuminate after draining the washer fluid? And does the low washer fluid warning light go off after refilling the washer fluid? Yes --> Normal No --> Go to step 3.
3. Using a tester, measure the voltage of the washer fluid level sensor connector. Is the voltage approx. 8.5 V or more? Yes --> Go to step 4. No --> Check harness, meter and body integrated unit, and replace if necessary.
4. Does the meter indicator illuminate if you short the washer fluid level sensor connector? Yes --> Go to step 5. No --> Check meter and body integrated unit, and replace if necessary.
5. Using a tester, measure the resistance of the washer fluid level sensor. Turn over the mud guard. Measure the resistance of the washer fluid level sensor. Amount of washer fluid in the tank Standard No remaining quantity (ON) Less than 10 ohms There is remaining quantity (OFF) 1 Mohms or more Is the resistance within the standard? Yes --> Normal No --> Replace the washer fluid level sensor along with the washer tank.
