CAUTION

  1. Before disassembling or reassembling parts, always disconnect the battery ground cable from battery. When replacing the audio, control module and other parts provided with memory functions, record the memory contents before disconnecting the battery ground cable. Otherwise, the memory is cleared.
  2. Reassemble the parts in the reverse order of disassembly procedure unless otherwise indicated.
  3. Connect the connectors securely during reassembly.
  4. After reassembly, make sure that the functional parts operate normally.
  5. Yellow connectors and harnesses with yellow tapes around them are the connectors and harnesses for the airbag system. Using a tester above such circuits may cause malfunction of airbag system. Follow the cautions for the airbag system in this case. Refer to «CAUTION»(ref-565203-S06105343772013071000000) .
  6. Be careful not to damage the airbag system wiring harness when servicing electrical parts and switches.
  7. If the steering wheel and steering angle sensor (steering roll connector) are removed, adjust the steering angle sensor. Refer to «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-565186-S16232332342013071000000) .

CHECK FUSE

  1. Remove the fuse and inspect visually.
  2. If the fuse is blown out, replace the fuse. NOTE: If the fuse is blown again, check the system wiring harness.

Step Check Yes No 1 CHECK HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION. Set the lighting switch to the switch 1 (TAIL) and switch 2 (HEAD). Do the tail and headlight illuminate? Go to step 2 . Check the combination switch (light) and headlight bulb. 2 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL. Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor kit. Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the "PC application for Subaru Select Monitor". On «System Selection Menu» display, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Lighting AUTO input} from {Current Data Display & Save}. Does the display switch between OFF <--> ON when the lighting switch is moved to AUTO position? Go to step 3 . Go to step 8 . 3 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL. From {Current Data Display & Save}, select {Illumination Sensor Output}. Light up the darkness around light control sensor. Is the value depending on the brightness output? (darkness: 47 - 53 Hz) Check and replace the body integrated unit. Inspection: Refer to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM CHECK

  1. Position the front wheels straight ahead. (After moving a vehicle 5 m (16 ft) or more with front wheels positioned straight ahead, make sure that the vehicle moves straight ahead.)
  2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work.
  4. Remove the driver's airbag module assembly. CAUTION: Before handling the airbag module, refer to «CAUTION»(ref-565203-S06105343772013071000000) . Using a hexagon wrench etc. wrapped by protective tape, insert the snap pins and release the locks (3 locations). Disconnect the horn harness and airbag connector and remove the airbag module assembly. Refer to «PROCEDURE»(ref-565203-S20438257392013071000000) .
  5. Remove the steering wheel. CAUTION: Always use the steering wheel puller for removal to avoid deforming the steering wheel. If the steering wheel has been removed, make sure that the roll connector is not turned from the original position. Disconnect the connector and remove the nut. Put alignment marks and remove the steering wheel using a steering wheel puller. Preparation tool: Steering wheel puller
  6. Remove the steering column cover. Lower the lever of the steering column. Release the claws and remove the screws, then detach the steering column lower cover. Separate the steering column upper cover and steering upper cover, and remove the steering column upper cover.
  7. Remove the roll connector. CAUTION: Make sure that the roll connector is not turned from the original position. Disconnect the connector under the roll connector. Release the claws and remove the roll connector.
  8. Remove the wiper switch assembly. Disconnect the connector from wiper switch. Release the claws, and pull out the wiper switch assembly. CAUTION: Do not press the claws with excessive force. They may be damaged.
  9. Remove the combination switch (light). Disconnect the connector of combination switch. Remove the screws and detach the combination switch (light).

HIGH BEAM

CAUTIONBecause the halogen bulb operates at a high temperature, dirt and oil on the bulb surface reduces the bulb's service life. Hold the flange portion when replacing the bulb. Never touch the glass portion. Do not leave the headlight without a bulb for a long time. Dust, moisture, etc. entering the headlight may affect its performance.

  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the headlight high beam bulb RH)
  3. Disconnect the connector and remove the headlight high beam bulb.

LOW BEAM

  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the headlight low beam bulb RH)
  3. Turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction from the parts to be removed. Then remove the clips and turn over the mud guard.
  4. Remove the headlight low beam bulb. Remove the back cover. Unlock the bulb socket and bulb spring, and remove the headlight low beam bulb.

  2. Release the lock and remove the bulb inspection cover of trunk room trim.
  3. Remove the bulb socket and tail light/stop light bulb.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and detach the rear combination light covers.
  3. Remove the rear combination light assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the clips. Release the bolts and clips, then pull out the rear combination light assembly to the vehicle rear. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear combination light assembly.
  4. Remove the bulb sockets and bulbs.

  2. Remove the bulb socket and tail light bulb.

SPOT MAP LIGHT BULB

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Refer to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-565206-S40110358542013071000000) .
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

SPOT MAP LIGHT SWITCH

  1. Remove the overhead console assembly.
  2. Measure the resistance between spot map light switch terminals. OVERHEAD CONSOLE ILLUMINATION LIGHT BULB

Note. Since LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) are used for the overhead console illumination light bulb, replace the overhead console assembly if an LED burns out.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the room light. Release the claws and remove the cover. Remove the screws. Disconnect the connector and remove the room light and bulb.

ROOM LIGHT BULB

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Refer to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-565206-S40110358542013071000000) .
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

  2. Remove the luggage room light. Release the claws and remove the luggage room light main body. Disconnect the connector and remove the luggage room light.
  3. Release the claws, and detach the luggage room light cover and bulb.

LUGGAGE ROOM LIGHT BULB

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Refer to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-565206-S40110358542013071000000) .
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

  2. Remove the trunk room light Disconnect the connector. Turn the trunk room light counterclockwise to 60° and remove the light.
  3. Release the claws, and detach the trunk room light cover and bulb.
