Airbag System (Diagnostics): Wiring Subaru Outback BR

Airbag

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to the WI article wiring diagram. Ref. to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINTS , WIRING DIAGRAM, Airbag System.

1 CHECK COMBINATION METER. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and confirm that warning lights of combination meter illuminate.Do warning lights except for airbag illuminate?Go to step 2 .Check the combination meter.
2 CHECK DTC. Read the DTC. Ref. to READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Is DTC displayed?Perform the diagnosis according to DTC.Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK FUSE. Remove fuse No. 5 from the fuse & relay box, and perform visual inspection.Is the fuse OK?Go to step 4 .Replace the fuse. If the fuse is blown out again, go to step 4 .
4 CHECK AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT (IN COMBINATION METER). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connectors (i1) and (B36). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does airbag warning light illuminate?Go to step 5 .Check the combination meter and instrument panel harness.
5 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Connect the connectors (i1) and (B36). Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does airbag warning light illuminate?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Replace the airbag main harness along with bulk-head harness.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module and the driver's airbag module.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the driver's airbag module. Connect the connector (1N) in the test harness N to the connector (AB38). Connect the airbag resistor to the connector (2N) of test harness N. Connect the connector (1Q) in the test harness Q to connector (AB37). Connect the airbag resistor to the connector (2Q) in the test harness Q. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the driver's airbag module. Ref. to DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK ROLL CONNECTOR. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connector (2N) in test harness N and from the connector (20.) in test harness Q. Measure the voltage between connector (2Q) in the test harness Q and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (2Q) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (2Q) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 4 .Replace the roll connector. Ref. to ROLL CONNECTOR .
4 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (DRIVER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Disconnect the test harness N from connector (AB38). Disconnect test harness Q from connector (AB37). Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON. (engine OFF) Measure the voltage between connector (3AG) in the test harness AG and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (3AG) No. 3 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 5 .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
5 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 6 .
6 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module and the passenger's airbag module.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag harness along with chassis harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Connect the connector (1P) in the test harness P to connector (AB9). Connect the airbag resistor to the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the passenger's airbag module. Ref. to PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (PASSENGER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON. (engine OFF) Measure the voltage between connector (3AG) in the test harness AG and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 9 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (3AG) No. 7 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module and the driver's airbag module.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the driver's airbag module. Connect the connector (1N) in the test harness N to the connector (AB38). Connect the airbag resistor to the connector (2N) of test harness N. Connect the connector (1Q) in the test harness Q to connector (AB37). Connect the airbag resistor to the connector (2Q) in the test harness Q. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the driver's airbag module. Ref. to DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK ROLL CONNECTOR AND AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (DRIVER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connector (2N) in test harness N and from the connector (2Q) in test harness Q. Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (2Q) terminals in test harness Q. Connector & terminal (2Q) No. 1 - (2Q) No. 2Is the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Go to step 5 .Go to step 4 .
4 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (DRIVER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Measure the resistance between connector (3AG) terminals in test harness AG. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 1 - (3AG) No. 3Is the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Replace the roll connector. Ref. to ROLL CONNECTOR .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
5 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 6 .
6 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module and the passenger's airbag module.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Connect the connector (1P) in the test harness P to connector (AB9). Connect the airbag resistor to the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the passenger's airbag module. Ref. to PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (PASSENGER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (3AG) terminals in test harness AG. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 7 - (3AG) No. 9Is the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.

Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connector (2N) in test harness N. Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connector (2Q) of test harness Q. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Measure the resistance between connector (2Q) terminals in test harness Q. Connector & terminal (2Q) No. 1 - (2Q) No. 2Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?Go to step 5 .Go to step 4 .
4 CHECK ROLL CONNECTOR. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Measure the resistance between connector (2Q) terminals in test harness Q. Connector & terminal (2Q) No. 1 - (2Q) No. 2Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.Replace the roll connector. Ref. to ROLL CONNECTOR .
5 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 6 .
6 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.

Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (3AG) of test harness AG and connector (2P) of test harness P. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 9 - (2P) No. 1: (3AG) No. 7 - (2P) No. 2Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module, side airbag module RH and the side airbag sensor RH.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK SIDE AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB24) from the side airbag module (RH), and connect the connector (1AJ) in the test harness AJ to connector (AB24). Connect the airbag resistor to the test harness AJ connector (3AJ). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the side airbag module (RH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Side Airbag Module.Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG REAR HARNESS (SIDE AIRBAG MODULE HARNESS RH). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB26) from seat belt pretensioner (RH). Disconnect the connector (AB33) from curtain airbag module (RH). Disconnect the airbag resistor from test harness AJ. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG to the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18). NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between connector (3AJ) in the test harness AJ and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (3AJ) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (3AJ) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

2 CHECK SIDE AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB19) from the side airbag module (LH), and connect the connector (1AJ) in test harness AJ to the connector (AB19). Connect the airbag resistor to the test harness AJ connector (3AJ). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the side airbag module (LH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Side Airbag Module.Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG REAR HARNESS (SIDE AIRBAG MODULE HARNESS LH). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB21) from seat belt pretensioner (LH). Disconnect the connector (AB31) from curtain airbag module (LH). Disconnect the airbag resistor from test harness AJ. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG to the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18). NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between connector (3AJ) in the test harness AJ and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (3AJ) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (3AJ) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.

Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the side airbag module (RH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Side Airbag Module.Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG REAR HARNESS (SIDE AIRBAG MODULE HARNESS RH). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB26) from seat belt pretensioner (RH). Disconnect the connector (AB33) from curtain airbag module (RH). Disconnect the airbag resistor from test harness AJ. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG to the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18). NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (3AJ) terminals in test harness AJ. Connector & terminal (3AJ) No. 1 - (3AJ) No. 2Is the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.

2 CHECK SIDE AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB19) from the side airbag module (LH), and connect the connector (1AJ) in test harness AJ to the connector (AB19). Connect the airbag resistor to the test harness AJ connector (3AJ). Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the side airbag module (LH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Side Airbag Module.Go to step 3 .

2 CHECK PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Connect the connector (1P) in the test harness P to connector (AB9). Connect the airbag resistor to the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the passenger's airbag module. Ref. to PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (PASSENGER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connectors (2P) and (3P) of test harness P. Remove the instrument panel lower cover and column cover, and disconnect the connector (AB7) from (AB2). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (3AG) in the test harness AG and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (3AG) No. 8 - Chassis ground: (3AG) No. 6 - Chassis groundIs the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag main harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.

Disconnect the airbag resistor from the connector (2N) in test harness N and from the connector (2Q) in test harness Q. Measure the voltage between connector (2N) in the test harness N and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (2N) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (2N) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage less than 1 V?Go to step 4 .Replace the roll connector. Ref. to ROLL CONNECTOR .
4 CHECK AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS (DRIVER'S AIRBAG HARNESS). Disconnect the test harness N from connector (AB38). Disconnect test harness Q from connector (AB37). Remove the console front panel and disconnect the connector (AB9). Disconnect the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18) from the airbag control module, and connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG. NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the voltage between connector (3AG) in the test harness AG and chassis ground. 1 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS. Check for poor contact of the connectors between the airbag control module, curtain airbag module LH and the curtain airbag sensor LH.Is there poor contact?Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.Go to step 2 .
2 CHECK CURTAIN AIRBAG MODULE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB31) from curtain airbag module (LH), and connect the connector (1N) in test harness N to connector (AB31). Connect the airbag resistor to the connector (2N) of test harness N. Connect the battery ground terminal and turn the ignition switch to ON.Does the airbag warning light illuminate for six seconds and go off?Replace the curtain airbag module (LH). Ref. to CURTAIN AIRBAG MODULE .Go to step 3 .
3 CHECK AIRBAG REAR HARNESS (CURTAIN AIRBAG MODULE HARNESS LH). Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Disconnect the connector (AB21) from seat belt pretensioner (LH). Disconnect connector (AB19) from side airbag module (LH). Disconnect the airbag resistor from test harness N. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG to the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18). NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (2N) terminals in test harness N. Connector & terminal (2N) No. 1 - (2N) No. 2Is the resistance 1 Mohms or more?Go to step 4 .Replace the airbag rear harness along with body harness.
4 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Replace the airbag control module. Ref. to AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .Go to step 5 .
5 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE
For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG).

Disconnect the connector (AB26) from seat belt pretensioner (RH). Disconnect connector (AB24) from side airbag module (RH). Disconnect the airbag resistor from test harness N. Disconnect the connectors (AB17, AB6, and AB18) from airbag control module. Connect the connector (1 AG) in the test harness AG to the connectors (AB6, AB17, and AB18). NOTE: For sedan models, connect test harness AH between the connectors (AB6, AB17, AB18) and (1AG). Measure the resistance between connector (5AG) or (6AG) in the test harness AG and connector (2N) in the test harness N. Disconnect the connector (AB28) in the side airbag sensor (RH) from the connector (1AI) in the test harness AI. 6 CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the same DTC displayed?Go to step 7 .Go to step 8 .
7 REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (RH) AND CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE AFTER REPLACEMENT. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait for 60 seconds or more. Replace the side airbag sensor (RH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Side Airbag Sensor. Connect all connectors. Clear the memory. Perform the Inspection Mode. Read the DTC.Is the system normal?Go to step 8 .Replace the curtain airbag sensor (RH). Ref. to REMOVAL , Curtain Airbag Sensor. Replace the airbag control module if not operating normally even after replacing the sensor. Ref. to REMOVAL , Airbag Control Module.
8 CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY.Is any other DTC displayed?Check DTC using "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .Finish the diagnosis.
