DIAGNOSIS

  1. AT OIL TEMP light circuit is open or shorted.
  2. Combination meter malfunction
  3. TCM is in special control mode.
  4. AT learning is not finished.

TROUBLE SYMPTOM

  1. When the ignition switch is turned to ON, the AT OIL TEMP light does not illuminate.
  2. AT OIL TEMP light remains lit after engine start.

3 CHECK DTC. Read the DTC relating the TCM using the Subaru Select Monitor.Is DTC displayed?Perform the diagnosis according to DTC.Go to step 4 .
4 CHECK TCM. Read the data of «ATF Temperature Lamp» using the Subaru Select Monitor.Is "ON" displayed?Go to step 5 .Perform the self-diagnosis of combination meter. < Ref. to SELF-DIAGNOSIS DISPLAY MODE , OPERATION, Combination Meter System. >
5 CHECK TCM. Read the data of «ATF Temp.» using the Subaru Select Monitor.Is the display 125°C or more?Go to step 6 .Check the TCM.
6 CHECK ATF TEMPERATURE. Check the real fluid temperature from the transmission case surface temperature.Does it clearly differ from the «ATF Temp.» displayed on Subaru Select Monitor?Perform the diagnosis according to DTC P0712 procedure. If there is no problems, perform the diagnosis according to DTC P0713 procedure.When ATF temperature can be judged as actually high, perform the diagnosis again after the ATF temperature lowers.
  1. AWD light circuit is open or shorted.
  2. Combination meter malfunction
  3. TCM is in AWD special control mode.
  1. When the ignition switch is turned to ON, the AWD light does not illuminate.
  2. AWD light remains lit after engine start.
  3. AWD light is blinking immediately after engine start.

6 CHECK AWD ON/OFF SWITCHING FUNCTION. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, select the {AWD ON/OFF switching mode} in {Maintenance mode} from «Work Support», and check the current mode. < Ref. to AWD ON/OFF SWITCHING MODE . > < Ref. to AWD ON/OFF SWITCHING MODE . >Is the message «At present, the vehicle is in AWD. Switch to FF?» displayed?Go to step 8 .If the message «At present, the vehicle is in FF. Switch to AWD?» is displayed, select "OK", and switch to AWD mode.
7 CHECK REAR DIFFERENTIAL. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, select {Rear differential inspection mode} in {Maintenance mode} from «Work Support», and check. < Ref. to REAR DIFFERENTIAL INSPECTION MODE . >Does AWD light go off after inspection is finished normally?Current condition is normal. Go back to Basic Diagnostic Procedure. < Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . >Go to step 8 .
8 CHECK COMBINATION METER. Perform the self-diagnosis of combination meter. < Ref. to SELF-DIAGNOSIS DISPLAY MODE , OPERATION, Combination Meter System. >Is there any trouble with the combination meter?Repair the combination meter.Check the TCM.

1 CHECK IGNITION SWITCH.Is the ignition switch ON?Go to step 2 .Turn the ignition switch to ON, and select the transmission mode using the Subaru Select Monitor.
2 CHECK BATTERY. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Measure the battery voltage.Is the voltage 11 V or more?Go to step 3 .Charge or replace the battery.
3 CHECK BATTERY TERMINAL.Is there poor contact at battery terminal?Repair or tighten the battery terminal.Go to step 4 .
4 CHECK INSTALLATION OF TCM CONNECTOR. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.Is the TCM connector inserted into the TCM until the clamp locks?Go to step 5 .Insert the TCM connector to TCM.
5 CHECK LAN SYSTEM. Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. < Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . >Is there any fault in LAN system?Perform the diagnosis according to DTC for LAN system. < Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . >Go to step 6 .
6 CHECK SUBARU SELECT MONITOR COMMUNICATION. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Check whether communication to transmission system can be executed normally.Is the system name displayed on Subaru Select Monitor?Check DTC of TCM. < Ref. to READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . >Go to step 7 .
7 CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT. Turn the ignition switch to ON. (engine OFF) Measure the ignition power supply voltage between TCM connector and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (B55) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (B55) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (B55) No. 11 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (B55) No. 21 (+) - Chassis ground (-): (B55) No. 22 (+) - Chassis ground (-)Is the voltage 10 - 13 V?Go to step 8 .Repair the open circuit of harness between TCM and battery.
8 CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND CHASSIS GROUND. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Disconnect the connector from TCM. Measure the resistance of harness between TCM connector and chassis ground. Connector & terminal (B54) No. 1 - Chassis groundIs the resistance less than 10 ohms?Go to step 9 .Repair the open circuit of the TCM ground circuit and poor contact of connector.
9 CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTOR.Is there poor contact of control module power supply, ground circuit and data link connector?Repair the connector.Check the TCM.

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

  1. Inhibitor switch is faulty.
  2. At least 2 range signal is input.
  1. Shift characteristics are erroneous.
  2. The range position of the select lever and the position of shift indicator display do not match.

  2. The range position of the select lever and the position of shift indicator display do not match.

4 CHECK HARNESS. Disconnect the control valve body connector. Measure the resistance between control valve body connector and transmission body. Gear is not shifted down when climbing a hill or driving down a hill.

Read the data of «Actual secondary pressure » using Subaru Select Monitor.Is the «Actual secondary pressure » 0.5 - 1.5 MPa?Go to step 4 .Perform the diagnosis according to DTC P0841 procedure.
4 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR TCM. Set the select lever to "D" range. Release the brake pedal to stabilize the engine speed and front wheel speed. Read the data of «Actual Gear Ratio» using Subaru Select Monitor.Is the «Actual Gear Ratio» as follows? Non-turbo model 1.5 - 2.6 Turbo model 2.0 - 2.4Go to step 5 .Go to step 6 .
5 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR TCM. Set the select lever to "D" range. Slowly increase the speed to 40 km/h (24 MPH) and keep the constant speed. Read the data of «Actual Gear Ratio» using Subaru Select Monitor.Is the «Actual Gear Ratio» as follows? Non-turbo model 0.5 - 0.9 Turbo model 0.5 - 0.8Go to step 6 .Replace the transmission assembly. < Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY . > < Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY . >
6 DRIVING CHECK BY INSPECTION MODE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Does the value change according to the engine speed, within the range of 1.5 - 2.5 MPa?Go to step 5 .Go to step 6 .
5 CHECK TCM INPUT SIGNAL (STALL TEST). Apply the parking brake. Set the select lever to "D" range. Depress the brake pedal firmly. Slowly open the accelerator fully, and stabilize the engine speed. Read the data of «Actual secondary pressure » using Subaru Select Monitor.Is the «Actual secondary pressure » higher than step 4 value? Does the value change according to the engine speed, within the range of 4.5 - 6.0 MPa?Go to step 7 .Go to step 6 .
6 CHECK SECONDARY PRESSURE SENSOR.Is the secondary pressure sensor damaged from the standpoint of appearance?Replace the secondary pressure sensor. < Ref. to SECONDARY PRESSURE SENSOR . > < Ref. to SECONDARY PRESSURE SENSOR . >Perform the diagnosis according to DTC P0842, P0843 procedure.
7 DRIVING CHECK BY INSPECTION MODE. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. 5 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR TCM. Lift up the vehicle. Start the engine. Warm up until the ATF temperature reaches to 40 - 70°C (104 - 158°F). Shift the select lever to "P" range. Stabilize the engine speed at idle. Read the data of «Actual secondary pressure » using Subaru Select Monitor.Is the «Actual secondary pressure » 0.5 - 1.5 MPa?Go to step 6 .Perform the diagnosis according to DTC P0841 procedure.
6 DRIVING CHECK FOR LOCK-UP CONDITION. Perform the " CLEAR MEMORY MODE ". < Ref. to CLEAR MEMORY MODE . > Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Start the engine. Warm up until the ATF temperature exceeds 50°C. Drive the vehicle for one minute or more while keeping the constant speed so that the display shown in the Subaru Select Monitor is as follows: «Lock Up Duty Ratio» is 70 % or more, and «Front Wheel Speed» is 40 km/h or more. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Start the engine. Perform the procedure in step 5 ) again. Read the DTC using Subaru Select Monitor.Does the AT OIL TEMP light blink and is DTC P2762 displayed?Perform the secondary pressure test. < Ref. to SECONDARY PRESSURE (LINE PRESSURE) TEST . > < Ref. to SECONDARY PRESSURE (LINE PRESSURE) TEST . > When DTC other than P2762 is displayed, perform the diagnosis corresponding to the DTC.Current condition is normal. Temporary oil pressure malfunction.

(when engine cold)Check for poor contact of the connector, and repair the defective part.Go to step 4 .
4 CHECK HARNESS INSIDE TRANSMISSION. CAUTION: Start work after ATF cools down. Remove the following parts. Transmission valve cover (non-turbo model) Transmission oil pan (turbo model) Check for the harness pinch, damage.Is the harness normal?Go to step 5 .Replace the transmission harness.
5 CHECK HARNESS INSIDE TRANSMISSION. Disconnect the control valve body connector. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between transmission connector and transmission body. Connector & terminal Non-turbo model (T4) No. 11 (+) - Transmission body (-): Turbo model (T4) No. 2 (+) - Transmission body (-)Is the voltage approx. 0 V?Replace the control valve body. < Ref. to CONTROL VALVE BODY . > < Ref. to CONTROL VALVE BODY . >Replace the transmission harness.
