CAUTION

  1. Wear appropriate work clothing, including a cap, protective goggles and protective shoes when performing any work.
  2. Remove contamination including dirt and corrosion before removal, installation or disassembly.
  3. Keep the disassembled parts in order and protect them from dust and dirt.
  4. Before removal, installation or disassembly, be sure to clarify the failure. Avoid unnecessary removal, installation, disassembly and replacement.
  5. Vehicle components are extremely hot after driving. Be wary of receiving burns from heated parts.
  6. Be sure to tighten fasteners including bolts and nuts to the specified torque.
  7. Place shop jacks or rigid racks at the specified points.
  8. Before disconnecting connectors of sensors or units, be sure to disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
  9. Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
  10. Prepare a container and cloth to prevent scattering of fuels when performing work where fuels can be spilled. If the fuel spills, wipe it off immediately to prevent from penetrating into floor or flowing out for environmental protection.
  11. Follow all government and local regulations concerning disposal of refuse when disposing fuel.

  1. Set the vehicle on a lift.
  2. Remove the collector cover.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
  4. Lift up the vehicle.
  5. Remove the under cover.
  6. Drain approximately 3.0 l (3.2 US qt, 2.6 lmp qt) of coolant. Refer to «DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-325304-S01033522502009071800000) , REPLACEMENT, Engine Coolant .
  7. Remove the intercooler. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325300-S41039960822009071800000) , Intercooler .
  8. Disconnect the connectors from the throttle position sensor.
  9. Remove the bolts which secure the air by-pass pipe and PCV pipe to the intake manifold, and loosen the clamp which connects the throttle body and duct.
  10. Remove the duct from the throttle body.
  11. Disconnect the engine coolant hoses from the throttle body.
  12. Remove the bolts which secure the throttle body to the intake manifold, and remove the throttle body.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RH

  1. Remove the collector cover.
  2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  3. Disconnect the connector from camshaft position sensor RH.
  4. Remove the camshaft position sensor RH from the rear side of the cylinder head.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR LH

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325306-S22805286222009071800000) , Intake Manifold .
  3. Remove the camshaft position sensor LH.

RH SIDE

  1. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to «RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE»(ref-325306-S29431132992009071800000) , PROCEDURE, Fuel .
  2. Remove the collector cover.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  4. Open the fuel filler lid, and remove the fuel filler cap.
  5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325306-S22805286222009071800000) , Intake Manifold .
  6. Remove the fuel pipe protector RH from the intake manifold.
  7. Disconnect the connector from fuel injector.
  8. Remove the bolt which holds fuel injector pipe onto intake manifold.
  9. Remove the fuel injector.

  1. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to «RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE»(ref-325306-S29431132992009071800000) , PROCEDURE, Fuel .
  2. Remove the collector cover.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  4. Open the fuel filler lid, and remove the fuel filler cap.
  5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325306-S22805286222009071800000) , Intake Manifold .
  6. Remove the engine ground terminal from the fuel pipe protector LH and remove the fuel pipe protector LH from the intake manifold.
  7. Disconnect the connector from fuel injector.
  8. Remove the bolt which holds fuel injector pipe onto intake manifold.
  9. Remove the fuel injector.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

Note. Use new O-rings.

Tightening torque

19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to «RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE»(ref-325306-S29431132992009071800000) , PROCEDURE, Fuel .
  2. Remove the collector cover.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  4. Open the fuel filler lid, and remove the fuel filler cap.
  5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325306-S22805286222009071800000) , Intake Manifold .
  6. Disconnect the connector from the tumble generator valve assembly.
  7. Remove the fuel injector. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-325306-S22062877852009071800000) , Fuel Injector .
  8. Remove the tumble generator valve body from intake manifold.

RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE

WARNINGPlace "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTIONBe careful not to spill fuel.

  1. Remove the fuse of fuel pump from main fuse box.
  2. Start the engine and run it until it stalls.
  3. After the engine stalls, crank it for five more seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

CONNECTING THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTOR

CAUTIONMake sure there are no damage or dust on connections. If necessary, clean seal surface of pipe.

Note. Use a new retainer.

  1. Set the new retainer (B) to connector (A).
  2. Push the pipe into the connector completely.

CAUTIONPull the connector to ensure it is connected securely. Make sure the two retainer claws are engaged in their mating positions in the connector. Be sure to inspect hoses and their connections for any leakage of fuel.

CONNECT FUEL DELIVERY HOSE AND FUEL RETURN HOSE

Connect the fuel delivery hose and fuel return hose to the pipe with an overlap of 20 to 25 mm (0.79 to 0.98 in).

Type A: When the amount to be inserted is specified.

Type B: When the amount to be inserted is not specified.

L1: 2.5 ± 1.5 mm (0.098 ± 0.059 in)

L2: 22.5 ± 2.5 mm (0.886 ± 0.098 in)

CAUTIONBe sure to inspect hoses and their connections for any leakage of fuel.

EVAPORATION HOSE CONNECTION

Connect the evaporation hose to the pipe with an overlap of 15 to 20 mm (0.59 to 0.79 in).

L = 17.5 ± 2.5 mm (0.689 ± 0.098 in)
