Removal & Installation

  1. Raise window to full up position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door latch handle. Remove door trim panel retaining screws and clips. Disconnect wiring harness connectors. Remove door trim panel.
  2. Disconnect linkage from door latch assembly. Remove mounting screws. Remove door latch assembly. Separate actuator from door latch. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove steering column. See appropriate article in STEERING. Using a vise, secure steering column. Remove bolt using a drill. Remove ignition key lock. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten NEW shear bolt to end of thread.

Remove door trim. Pull back sealing cover. Completely close door glass. Remove outer handle. Loosen spring security key lock. Remove key lock from outer handle. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove instrument panel lower cover and knee panel. Remove 2 nuts. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove keyless entry control module. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Note. To prevent static electricity damage to transmitter printed circuit board, touch steel area of housing with hand to discharge static electricity to discharge static electricity carries on body or clothes before disassembling transmitter.

Remove battery from transmitter. Remove retaining screw and transmitter. To install, reverse removal procedure. When replaced, transmitter must be reprogrammed. See KEYLESS TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING.
