KEYLESS TRANSMITTER
Note. Procedure must be performed within 45 seconds.
- Perform test sitting in driver's seat. Ensure all doors, rear gate or trunk are closed. Open and close driver's door. Turn ignition switch from ON to LOCK position 10 times in rapid succession (within 15 seconds). DO NOT start engine. Horn will chirp once, indicating system is in programming mode.
- Open and close driver's door. Press any button on transmitter that needs to be programmed. Horn will sound 2 times, indicating remote transmitter has been programmed. To program additional transmitter(s), repeat this step. After programming transmitter(s), go to next step.
- Remove ignition key from switch. Horn will chirp 3 times, indicating that system has exited programming mode. Ensure each transmitter operates properly.
CIRCUIT TESTS
Note. To identify circuits and terminals referenced in testing, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Measure voltage between fuse box connector (B158) terminal No. 8 and chassis ground. (Scheme 13) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring harness between fuse box and battery.
- Disconnect connector from keyless entry control module. Measure voltage between connector terminal No. 3 and chassis ground. (Scheme 14) If voltage is greater than 10 volts, check ground circuit. See «GROUND CIRCUIT»(ref-128976-S01799234502001110900000). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring harness between keyless entry control module and fuse box.
Scheme 13
GROUND CIRCUIT
Measure resistance between keyless entry control module connector terminal No. 8 and chassis ground. (Scheme 14) If resistance is less than 10 ohms, perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair wiring harness between keyless entry control module and chassis ground.
TRANSMITTER BATTERY
Note. To prevent static electricity damage to transmitter printed circuit board, touch steel area of building or chassis frame with hand to discharge static electricity carried on body or clothes before disassembling transmitter.
- Remove battery from transmitter. Measure voltage. Battery discharge occurs during measurement. Complete measurement within 5 seconds. During battery voltage measurement, if voltage drops more than 1.8 volts during 3 second period, a weak battery is indicated. Replace battery. If voltage is greater than 2 volts, go to next step.
- Press either LOCK/ARM or UNLOCK/DISARM button 6 times to synchronize with keyless entry control module. Press LOCK/ARM button. If LED blinks one time, go to next step. If LED does not blink one time, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Keep LOCK/ARM button pressed. If LED blinks one time and then turns on, go to next step. If LED does not blink one time and then turn on, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Press UNLOCK/DISARM button. If LED blinks one time, go to next step. If LED does not blink one time, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Keep UNLOCK/DISARM button pressed. If LED blinks 2 times, go to next step. If LED does not blink 2 times, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Perform lock and unlock function of power door lock with transmitter. If function is normal, go to next step. If function is not normal, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Press either LOCK/ARM or UNLOCK/DISARM button. If horn signal chirps, go to next step. If horn signal does not chirp, keep both LOCK/ARM and UNLOCK/DISARM buttons pressed for more than 1.5 seconds, then go to next step.
- Keep both LOCK/ARM and UNLOCK/DISARM buttons pressed for more than 1.5 seconds. If horn signal chirps 2 times, go to next step. If horn signal does not chirp 2 times, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Press LOCK/ARM or UNLOCK/DISARM button. If horn signal chirps, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If horn signal does not chirp, go to next step.
- Keep both LOCK/ARM and UNLOCK/DISARM buttons pressed for more than 1.5 seconds. If horn signal chirps one time, go to next step. If horn signal does not chirp one time, replace transmitter. See «KEYLESS TRANSMITTER»(ref-128976-S26895285342001110900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check for an unchecked transmitter. If an unchecked transmitter exists, go to step 1 . If all transmitters have been checked, go to next step.
- Remove and visually check fuse No. 3 located in fuse box. If fuse No. 3 is blown, replace fuse. If fuse is not blown, check power supply circuit. See «POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT»(ref-128976-S28510738752001110900000) under CIRCUIT TESTS.
INPUT/OUTPUT (I/O) SIGNALS (KEYLESS ENTRY)
Check I/O signals (pin voltage) at keyless entry control module harness connector. (Scheme 14) If I/O signals are not as specified, repair circuit or replace component as necessary.
