Scheme 99: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Start the engine.
  7. Idle the engine for 10 seconds or more [B].
  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Code [C].
  9. Read the DTCs. HINT: If a DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  11. Input the DTC: P0365, P0367 or P0368.
  12. Check the DTC judgment result. CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

HINT

Performing this confirmation driving pattern will activate the catalyst monitor. This is very useful for verifying the completion of a repair.

Scheme 100

Scheme 100: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  3. Turn the Techstream on.
  4. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
  7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Monitor.
  8. Check that Catalyst / Status2 is Incomplete.
  9. Start the engine and warm it up (until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher) [A].
  10. Drive the vehicle at between 64 and 113 km/h (40 and 70 mph) for 10 minutes or more [B].
  11. The monitor item will change to Complete as Catalyst monitor operates.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
  13. Check if any DTCs (pending DTCs) are set.

HINT

If the monitor does not change to Complete, and no pending DTCs are stored, extend the driving time.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0420) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes. Read DTCs. Result Result Proceed to P0420 A P0420 and other DTCs B HINT: If any DTCs other than P0420 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first. B --> See step 4 A: Go to next step
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE INJECTION VOLUME FOR A/F SENSOR) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine and warm it up. Turn the Techstream on. Run the engine at an engine speed of 2500 rpm for approximately 90 seconds. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume for A/F sensor. Perform the Active Test operation with the engine in an idling condition (press the RIGHT or LEFT button to change the fuel injection volume). Monitor the voltage outputs of the air fuel ratio sensor and heated oxygen sensor (AFS B1S1 and O2S B1S2) displayed on the tester. HINT: The Control the Injection Volume for A/F sensor operation lowers the fuel injection volume by 12.5% or increases the injection volume by 25%. Each sensor reacts in accordance with increases and decreases in the fuel injection volume. Scheme 101: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

Note. The Evaporative System Check (Automatic Mode) consists of 5 steps performed automatically by the Techstream. It takes a maximum of approximately 19 minutes. Do not perform the Evaporative System Check when the fuel tank is more than 90% full because the cut-off valve may be closed, making the fuel tank leak check unavailable. Do not run the engine during this operation. When the temperature of the fuel is 35°C (95°F) or higher, a large amount of vapor forms and any check results become inaccurate. When performing the Evaporative System Check, keep the fuel temperature below 35°C (95°F).

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Evaporative System Check / Automatic Mode.
  7. After "Evaporative System Check" is completed, check All Readiness by entering the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  8. Input the DTC: P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402 or P2419.
  9. Check the DTC judgment result [B]. Scheme 105: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

Note. The Evaporative System Check (Automatic Mode) consists of 5 steps performed automatically by the Techstream. It takes a maximum of approximately 19 minutes. Do not perform the Evaporative System Check when the fuel tank is more than 90% full because the cut-off valve may be closed, making the fuel tank leak check unavailable. Do not run the engine during this operation. When the temperature of the fuel is 35°C (95°F) or higher, a large amount of vapor forms and any check results become inaccurate. When performing the Evaporative System Check, keep the fuel temperature below 35°C (95°F).

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Evaporative System Check / Automatic Mode.
  7. After the "Evaporative System Check" is completed, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [B].
  8. Read the Pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  10. Input the DTC: P0455 or P0456.
  11. Check the DTC judgment result. Tester Display Description NORMAL DTC judgment completed System normal ABNORMAL DTC judgment completed System abnormal INCOMPLETE DTC judgment not completed Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions UNKNOWN Unable to perform DTC judgment Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit HINT: If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
  12. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-388734-S06424090862011031100000) . HINT: If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Start the engine and warm it up until the ECT reaches 75°C (167°F) or higher [B].
  7. Accelerate the vehicle to 75 km/h (46 mph) or higher with the accelerator pedal opening angle of 20% or more [C]. WARNING: When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws
  8. Maintain the vehicle speed at 75 km/h (46 mph) or higher for 10 seconds or more [D].
  9. Decelerate the vehicle by releasing the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds or more to perform fuel cut [E].
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Code [F].
  11. Read the Pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  13. Input the DTC: P0500.
  14. Check the DTC judgment result.   7. Idle the engine for 10 minutes or more [C].
  8. Accelerate the vehicle to 10 km/h (6.21 mph) or more, and then idle the engine [D].
  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [E].
  10. Read the Pending DTCs. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  12. Input the DTC: P0505.
  13. Check the DTC judgment result.
