  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH Remove the connector from the shift lever plate. Remove the transmission control switch connector from the shift lever plate. Disengage the secondary locking device. Release the locking lug of terminals 2 and 4, and then pull out the terminals from the rear.
  8. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY Separate the wire harness of the transmission control switch from the shift lever plate. Remove the 2 screws and shift lever knob sub-assy. NOTE: Be careful not to apply excessive force to the Transmission control switch wire harness. Remove the shift lever knob cover. Remove the shift lever knob button and spring. Remove the transmission control switch.
  9. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING UPPER Remove the shift lock release button cover from the position indicator housing upper. Remove the position indicator housing upper from the shift lever assy. Remove the position indicator slide cover from the shift lever plate. Remove the position indicator plate from the position indicator housing upper.
  10. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH Remove the screw and shift lock control switch.
  11. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID Remove the shift lock solenoid from the floor shift assy.
  12. REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY Remove the indicator lamp wire sub-assy from the floor shift assy.
  13. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON Remove the shift lock release button and spring from the floor shift assy.
  14. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON Apply MP grease on the shift lock release button and spring. Install the shift lock release button and spring to the floor shift assy. HINT: Ensure that the claws fit tightly.
  15. INSTALL INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY Install the indicator lamp wire sub-assy to the floor shift assy.
  16. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID Install the shift lock solenoid to the floor shift assy.
  17. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH Install the shift lock control switch to the floor shift assy with the screw. Torque: 2.2 N.m (22 kgf.cm, 19 in.lbf)
  18. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING UPPER Install the position indicator plate on the position indicator housing upper. Install the position indicator slide cover on the shift lever plate. Install the position indicator housing upper on the shift lever assy. Install the shift lock release button cover on the position indicator housing upper.
  19. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH Apply MP grease to the shift lever knob button and spring. Install the shift lever knob button and spring to the shift lever knob sub-assy. Install the transmission control switch to the shift lever knob sub-assy. Install the shift lever knob cover to the shift lever assy with the 2 screws. HINT: Coat the threads of screws with sealant. Sealant: Part No. 08833-00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent NOTE: Be careful not to catch the Transmission control switch wire harness. Ensure that the claws fit tightly claws.
  20. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY Install the 2 terminals into the indicator lamp wire connector. Clamp the wire harness and connector to the shift lever plate.
  21. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT ASSY Install the floor shift assy with the 4 bolts. Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) HINT: Tighten them in the order, A, B, C and D. Install the 2 wire harness clamps on the shift lever plate.
  22. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY Adjust the shift lever to the N position, push the lever to the R position side and hold it there. While pulling the cable, connect the transmission control cable assy with the nut. Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) Connect the 2 connectors.
  23. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT PARKING LOCK CABLE ASSY Insert the floor shift parking lock cable end rod (phi4) in the slit of the shift lever plate. Insert the casing cap of the cable into the shift lever plate through-hole. HINT: Check that it is inserted securely. Insert the lever pin into the hole in the floor shift parking lock cable end. HINT: At this time, ensure that the shift lever is in the N position. After installation, make sure that the lever pin is pulled by the floor shift parking lock cable and is stopped with the stopper. To check that the spring for automatic adjustment works properly, hold the slide cap and move it back and forth. Rotate adjust lock cap shown in the illustration counterclockwise by 90° facing front of the vehicle. HINT: Install the floor shift parking lock cable on the shift lever side with the key in the ACC position. Make sure the slide amount of the spring for automatic adjustment is 8 mm (0.31 in.).
  24. INSPECT AND ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION Check that the starter operates when the shift lever is only the in P or N position and does not operate in other positions. Operate the shift lever and check that the reading on the indicator conforms to the actual position. Check that the ignition key can be pulled out with the shift lever in the P position. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position with the shift lever in any positions other than P. Check that the shift lever can be shifted from the P position to other positions when the shift release button is depressed.
  25. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-180037-S41297120202005072000000) )

  1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION When adjusting the shift lever to each position, make sure that it moves smoothly, can be properly operated and the position indicator displays correctly. Positions which can be operated without pressing the shift lever knob button R --> N --> D, L --> 2 --> D --> N Positions which can be operated only while pressing the shift lever knob button 2 --> L, N --> R --> P Positions which can be operated only while pressing the shift lever knob button, the ignition switch is in the ON position and the brake pedal is depressed P --> R When starting the engine, make sure that the vehicle moves forward when shifting from the N to D position, and moves rearward when shifting to the R position.
  2. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION Loosen the nut on the control shaft lever. Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches. Set the shift lever to the N position. While holding the shift lever lightly toward the R position side, tighten the shaft lever nut. Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when adjusting the lever from the N to D position and reverses when adjusting it to the R position.
