ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [07/2013 - ]
- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Turn the A/C switch on. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve (for intake side). Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1). Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake side) using the Techstream. OK Tester Operation Specified Condition 0 deg (CA) Normal engine speed 36 deg (CA) Engine idles roughly or stalls If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve, wire harness and ECM. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2). Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake side) using the Techstream. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2). Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust side) using the Techstream. OK Tester Operation Specified Condition 0 deg (CA) Normal engine speed 51 deg (CA) Engine idles roughly or stalls If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve, wire harness and ECM.

- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 6.85 to 7.65 ohms TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected (Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve) If the result is not as specified, replace the camshaft timing oil control valve.
- INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Data List / Accel Sensor Out No. 1 and Accel Sensor Out No. 2. Read the value displayed on the Techstream. Standard Voltage Accelerator Pedal Operation Accel Sensor Out No. 1 Accel Sensor Out No. 2 Released 0.213 to 4.772 V 00.213 to 4.772 V Depressed 0.213 to 4.772 V 0.213 to 4.772 V

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL . Refer to «REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] - Step 1»(ref-612380-S28553140182014042900000)
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD STOPPER Remove the accelerator pedal rod stopper.
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD COVER Disengage the clip, and remove the accelerator pedal rod cover.
- REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY Disconnect the accelerator pedal assembly connector. Remove the 2 nuts and the accelerator pedal assembly.
Note. Perform the mass air flow meter inspection according to the procedures below. Only replace the mass air flow meter when the mass air flow value in the Data List is not within the normal operating range (with the engine stopped) or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter platinum hot wire (heater).
- INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER Read the value using the Techstream. NOTE: Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner case (installed to the vehicle). During the test, do not use the exhaust air duct to perform suction on the exhaust pipe. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Data List / MAF. Wait for 30 seconds, and read the values on the Techstream. Standard Tester Display Condition Standard Condition MAF Engine not running 30 seconds after turning ignition switch to ON 0.85 gm/sec or less If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter. If the result is within the specified range, inspect the mass air flow meter See step 1 .

- REMOVE MASS AIR FLOW METER Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector. Remove the 2 screws and the mass air flow meter.

- INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER Perform a visual check for any foreign matter on the platinum hot wire (heater) of the mass air flow meter shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Platinum Hot Wire (Heater) OK There is no foreign matter. If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. - INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Always 1836 to 2244 ohms TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component without harness connected: (Crankshaft Position Sensor) If the resistance is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
- INSPECT MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON with the engine off. Inspect the manifold absolute pressure sensor. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Atmosphere Pressure. Check the atmoshere pressure. OK Almost the same as ambient pressure HINT: The standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (1.03 kgf/cm2, 14.6 psi). The atmospheric pressure decreases by 1 kPa (0.01 kgf/cm2, 0.1 psi) as the altitude increases by 100 m. The atmospheric pressure varies depending on the weather.

- REMOVE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector. Remove the bolt and manifold absolute pressure sensor. Remove the O-ring from the manifold absolute pressure sensor.
