PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE) Disconnect the D48 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (ACC1, ACC2 RELAY) Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL [07/2013 - ]»(ref-612382-S37239791822014042900000) . Remove the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Reconnect the D41 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List. ABS/VSC/TRC Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Vehicle Speed Vehicle speed/Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed (Speedometer tester) - OK The Data List value is approximately the same as the actual vehicle speed. INSPECT CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component with harness connected (Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly)) - - Reconnect the A5 brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU) connector. Reconnect the D41 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. Using an oscilloscope, check the vehicle speed input signal waveform from the combination meter at the terminal of the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly). Check the signal waveform according to the conditions in the table below. Item Content Tester Connection D41-27 (SPD) - D48-11 (GND) Tool Setting 5 V/DIV., 100 ms./DIV. Condition Engine switch on (IG), vehicle being driven at approx. 5 km/h (3 mph) OK The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration. HINT: When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List. POWER SOURCE CONTROL Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Stop Light Switch1 State of brake pedal / OFF or ON OFF: Brake pedal released ON: Brake pedal depressed Use this item to determine whether the stop light switch is malfunctioning. The engine cannot be started when this item is "OFF". When this item is malfunctioning, the engine can be started by pressing and holding the engine switch for a certain period of time.   1. CHECK FOR DTC (LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ]»(ref-612242-S17246768852014042900000) . OK LIN communication system DTC B2785 is not output simultaneously. HINT: If the steering wheel cannot be locked or unlocked, the engine switch cannot be turned on (IG) and the engine cannot be started. If LIN communication is not available, the steering wheel cannot be locked or unlocked. NG --> See step 9 OK: Go to next step
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STEERING UNLOCK SWITCH) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List. POWER SOURCE CONTROL Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Steering Unlock Switch State of steering unlock sensor signal output from steering lock actuator assembly/OFF or ON OFF: Steering locked ON: Steering unlocked When the shift lever is in P* and the engine switch is off, if any door is opened or closed, the steering is locked. When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is inside the vehicle and the engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG), the steering unlocks. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Positive (+) tester probe --> D59-4 (SLP) Negative (-) tester probe --> Body ground Steering locked* 10 kohms or higher Positive (+) tester probe --> D59-4 (SLP) Negative (-) tester probe --> Body ground Steering unlocked* Below 1 ohms HINT: *: If any of the doors are opened then closed with the shift lever in P* and the engine switch off, the steering wheel will be locked. If the engine switch is then turned on (ACC) or on (IG), the steering wheel will be unlocked. DTC B2285 may be stored due to a malfunction in the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly).
