Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3: This step tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the low voltage range.
  2. 4: This step tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the high voltage range. If the fuse in the jumper opens if you perform this test, the signal circuit is short to ground.
  3. 5: This step tests for a short to voltage in the 5-volt reference circuit.

2Install a scan tool. With a scan tool, observe the Brake Pedal Position Sensor parameter in the seat module Adjustable Pedal data list. Is the Position Sensor parameter within the specified range?0.39-4.58 VGo to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor ConnectionsGo to Step 3
3Disconnect the position sensor connector. With a scan tool, observe the Position Sensor parameter. Is the Position Sensor parameter less than the specified value?0.39 VGo to Step 4Go to Step 8
4Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal and the signal circuit terminal in the position sensor harness connector. With a scan tool, observe the Position Sensor parameter. Is the Position Sensor parameter greater than the specified value?4.58 VGo to Step 5Go to Step 7
5Disconnect the fused jumper wire. Measure the voltage between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal and the low reference circuit terminal in the position sensor harness connector. Is the voltage measure greater than the specified value?5 VGo to Step 6Go to Step 10
