Immobiliser Definition

An electronic immobiliser protects the vehicle against being stolen, by means of an electronic system that prevents the engine being started.

Why This Brochure

The immobiliser systems of the Arena, Movano and Vivaro are programmed in a different manner than most other models. This special brochure has been written to emphasize these differences. It is important to realize that these systems require a different approach in programming and ordering parts. Neglecting these procedures can cause vital failures in the system's operation and in worst case, non-operating vehicles.

Using This Brochure

The brochure is divided into three chapters, each chapter dealing with one car-line.

Each chapter starts with a short list of the system configuration. The second section in this chapter describes the functionality. The section “LED status” gives a table in which the status of the LED is compared against the system status, and in case of a malfunction, the action that should be taken.

The next section deals with the programming of the immobiliser. First, a survey of programming is given and via this way the required programming description is reached. At the end of this section, troubleshooting in relation to the Tech-2 error-screens is given.

Each chapter ends with a section concerning the ordering related parts for the specific system. Also the procedure to request missing codes is described.

For those who would like to have an overview of the most characteristic differences between the immobiliser systems of the Arena, Movano, Vivaro and other models, a table is given at the end of the brochure.

In paragraph Glossary terminology used in this brochure is explained.

Note. If any trouble code is stored before or during the programming, this must be resolved first. The section “LED-status” can also help to find the failure with respect to the immobiliser system.

Note. Information relating to programming immobiliser for the concerned car-lines can also be found in the related Checking Procedures in TIS 2000. Parts location can be found in the related part of TIS 2000.
