Alternator Test Opel Vectra C

Objective:

Check the charging operation and the excitation and rectification diodes of the alternator.

Measurement:

Harmonic content of the charge voltage when the engine is idling.

Preparation:

Switch off ignition, check if connections to the alternator, starter and battery are secure. Check tension of alternator drive belt.

Connections:

INPUT ACOM/TRIGGERINPUT B
Connect red measurement lead to the positive terminal of the battery. Connect the black ground lead to the negative terminal of the battery.

Procedure Tech 31:

  1. 1. Download Reference curve.
  2. 2. Start engine and allow it to idle.

Reference Curve:

The appearance of the measured curve can vary according to the condition of the engine (load, battery charge and engine speed).

Procedure Tech 32:

  1. 1. Download Setup file (the Tech 32 uses only Setup files, no reference curves).
  2. 2. Start engine and allow it to idle.
