Function
The transponder key is programmed with a permanent code, each transponder having a different code to guarantee a high degree of security.
When the ignition switch is switched on, the transponder code is applied to the immobilizer controller, which compares the transponder code with a stored code. If the transponder code is recognised, the controller initiates a sequence to allow the engine to be started.
If an attempt is made to start the engine while the immobilizer is activated, the CHECK ENGINE indicator flashes and the engine will not start.
Switch on: Set the ignition and starter switch to OFF.
(activate)
Switch off: Set the ignition and starter switch to ON by using the transponder key.
(deactivate)

The immobilizer control unit is capable of diagnosis with TECH 1. To protect the unit against unauthorized tampering, the immobilizer control unit can only be programmed after entering a security code.
Car pass
| Each vehicle has a car pass, which is issued to the customer on delivery of the vehicle along with the other vehicle papers. For this, a card is used, similar to the conventional radio passes. | |||

Note:
This car pass is an important document and must be treated with the same care as the vehicle papers. It must not be kept in the vehicle. The customer must present the car pass for operations involving the immobilizer or the engine control unit.
The illustration on the opposite page shows the front and rear sides of the car pass.
