Subject:Leak in coolant pumpVehicle:Corsa, Tigra, Astra - G, Vectra, Omega - BCondition:In individual cases, drops can form at the vent bore on the coolant pump, or traces of condensation may be detected under the coolant pump.Cause:A fine film, which is necessarily formed by the coolant, is required between the carbon and ceramic rings in the coolant pump. Any leakage caused is not significant and can not be detected in the coolant compenation tank.In addition, small dirt particles (production residue) may cause a brief leak in this area: this is likewise not significant. The dirt is flushed out or solidifies harmlessly in the ”soft” carbon ring.Remedy:Only measurable coolant loss in the coolant compensation tank may be accepted as evidence of damage to the coolant pump. A precondition is that the entire coolant system (radiator, hoses, etc.) has been checked for leaks on a cold engine. Only when there is measurable coolant loss may the coolant pump be replacedNOTE:Should the Vauxhall Material Return Centre receive any further cases and after inspection the units are found to have the above concern, then the unit may be returned and your account debited accordingly.
