Headlamp Levelling System
The headlamp levelling system consists of a headlamp levelling switch and a headlamp levelling actuator. The headlamp levelling actuator controls the light beam direction, vertically, by moving the headlamp reflector.
When the headlamp levelling switch is adjusted, the resistance of the switch varies. A signal voltage based on the switch resistance is sent to the headlamp levelling actuator, which adjusts the vertical angle of the headlamp reflector accordingly.
Daytime Running Light System (DRL)
The daytime running light (DRL) system consists of a DRL controller, alternator (not stop start model), stop start control module (stop start model), lighting switch, headlights, clearance light, tail lights, license plate light and engine oil pressure switch.
When the DRL controller detects that the engine is running, the stop start system is operating (stop start model) and the lighting switch is in the OFF position, the DRL relay in the controller is energised, causing the headlight low beam, clearance light, tail lights and license plate light to come on. At this time, even if the dimmer and passing switch is in the high beam position, the headlights remain lit at low beam. When the engine is at stop (other than when the stop start system is operational), or the lighting switch is either in the HEAD or CLEARANCE position, the DRL controller prevents the DRL relay from operating to stop DRL control function.
Front Fog Light
The front fog light circuit is connected in series with the lighting switch circuit. The front fog lights operate when the lighting switch is turned to the HEAD or CLEARANCE position and the front fog light switch is turned on. Power is supplied to the fog lights via the fog light relay.
Rear Fog Light
The rear fog light switch is included in the lighting switch. The design of the switch only allows the rear fog light to be switched on when the lighting switch is set to the HEAD position. The rear fog light will turn off when the lighting switch is turned off.
Turn Signal and Hazard Warning Lights
The turn signal and hazard warning lights are controlled via the turn signal and hazard warning relay.
The hazard warning lights are also controlled by the body control module (BCM).
The BCM operates the turn signal and hazard warning relay for the answer back function of the keyless entry and the output test function with the scan tool.
Interior and Luggage Light
The interior light can be operated by switching the interior light switch on. When the switch is at the DOOR position, the light will come on when any of the doors are opened and turn off when they are closed. The luggage compartment light is operated similarly by the tailgate.
The interior and the luggage compartment lights turn off automatically if left on for longer than a specified period of time, even if the doors are left open. The purpose of automatically turning the lights off is to stop the BCM battery from discharging.
