Important: Use only antifreeze 19 40 650 (09 194 431) and ensure a concentration of 50% water to 50 % antifreeze. Antifreeze does not just prevent the cooling system from freezing up, it also protects all the components that are in contact with coolant from rust/limescale deposits. As a result, antifreeze should always be added, even in tropical countries. The water quality also plays an important role in addition to the mix ratio. Water of drinkable quality usually meets these requirements. The quality of purified sea water is inadequate! If radiator, cylinder head or cylinder head gasket have been replaced the old coolant must not be re-used. Damage may also be caused to the engine if unauthorised anti-freeze agent is used.
Open bonnet
Warning: Only open the coolant compensation tank cap after the engine has cooled.
Unscrew the coolant compensation tank cap.
Check coolant level and correct if necessary
Screw adapter KM-471 (2) and radiator gauge (1) on the coolant compensation tank.
Note. Follow manufacturer's instructions!
• Service: The radiator gauge is available from the "Opel/Vauxhall Workshop Equipment" catalogue.
Apply approx. 100 kPa ( 1 bar ) to the cooling system.
Check cooling system for leaks.
Remove the gauge and close the coolant compensation tank.
Note. Relieve pressure.
Close bonnet.
