REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect air duct and resonator from the air cleaner case (upper).
  2. Disconnect MAF/IAT sensor.
  3. Unhook clips, and lift air cleaner case (upper).
  4. Remove air cleaner filter.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the engine front under cover access cover.
  2. Drain engine oil. Refer to " «ENGINE OIL: CHANGING ENGINE OIL»(ref-519787-S32204888962012122900000) ".
  3. Remove the oil filter using Tool as shown in illustration below.

WARNINGBe careful not to burn yourself, as the engine and engine oil may be hot.
CAUTIONOil filter is equipped with a pressure relief valve. Use Genuine NISSAN Oil Filter or equivalent. When removing, prepare a shop cloth to absorb any engine oil leaks or spills. Do not allow engine oil to adhere to drive belts. Completely wipe off any engine oil that adheres to the engine and the vehicle.

  1. Remove foreign materials adhering to the oil filter seal mating surface.
  2. Apply clean engine oil to the new oil filter seal as shown in illustration below.
  3. Screw on the oil filter manually until it touches the installation surface, then tighten it by 2/3 turn as shown in illustration below. Or tighten to specification. Oil filter: 17.7 N.m (1.8 kg-m, 13 ft-lb)
  4. Refill engine with new engine oil. Refer to " «ENGINE OIL: CHANGING ENGINE OIL»(ref-519787-S32204888962012122900000) ".
  5. Inspect the engine for oil leaks. Refer to " «ENGINE OIL: INSPECTION»(ref-519787-S01204867292012122900000) ".
  6. Install the engine front under cover access cover.

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Note. The viscous paper type filter does not need cleaning between replacement intervals. Replace the air filter as necessary for periodic maintenance.

  1. Remove ignition coil. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-519778-S09397867612012122900000) ".
  2. Remove spark plug using suitable tool.
CAUTIONDo not drop or shock it.

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

TRANSFER FLUID: Replacement

CAUTIONIf using the vehicle for towing, the transfer fluid must be replaced as specified. Refer to " FOR USA AND CANADA: INTRODUCTION TO PERIODIC MAINTENANCE " (United States and Canada) or " FOR MEXICO: PERIODIC MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE " (Mexico).
CAUTIONIf using the vehicle for towing, the transfer fluid must be replaced as specified. Refer to " FOR USA AND CANADA: INTRODUCTION TO PERIODIC MAINTENANCE ".

Scheme 13: DRAINING
  1. Stop engine.
  2. Remove the drain plug and gasket and drain the fluid.
  3. Install the drain plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to the specified torque. Refer to " «DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY»(ref-519813-S40092191312012122900000) ". CAUTION: Do not reuse gasket.
