Body Control System (Without Intelligent Key System): Removal & Installation Nissan Note E12

BEFORE REPLACEMENT

When replacing BCM, save or print current vehicle specification with CONSULT configuration before replacement.

Note. If "READ CONFIGURATION" can not be used, use the "WRITE CONFIGURATION - Manual selection" after replacing BCM.

AFTER REPLACEMENT

CAUTIONWhen replacing BCM, always perform "WRITE CONFIGURATION" with CONSULT. Or not doing so, BCM control function does not operate normally. Complete the procedure of "WRITE CONFIGURATION" in order. Configuration is different for each vehicle model. Confirm configuration of each vehicle model. If you set incorrect "WRITE CONFIGURATION", incidents might occur.

Note. When replacing BCM, perform the system initialization (NATS) (if equipped).

REMOVAL

CAUTIONBefore replacing BCM, perform "READ CONFIGURATION" to save or print current vehicle specification. Refer to " DESCRIPTION ".

  1. Disconnect negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (BATTERY)»(ref-675572-S35311355862014120500000) ".
  2. Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-675607-S42805239232014120500000) ".
  3. Remove screws (A) and remove the BCM (1) from the steering member and position aside.
  4. Disconnect the harness connectors from the BCM.
  5. Remove relays from relay bracket.
  6. Remove relay bracket from BCM to transfer to new BCM.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTIONPerform " CONFIGURATION (BCM) " when replacing BCM. Refer to " DESCRIPTION ". Make sure to perform the system initialization (NATS) (if equipped) when replacing BCM. Refer to " WORK PROCEDURE ". When replacing BCM, if new BCM does not come with keyfobs attached, all existing keyfobs must be re-registered.

Removal and Installation

CAUTIONBefore servicing, turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals and wait at least three minutes. Do not use air or electric tools when removing or installing the combination switch.

  1. Disconnect the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (BATTERY)»(ref-675572-S35311355862014120500000) ".
  2. Remove the steering column covers. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-675607-S28451202422014120500000) ".
  3. Rotate steering wheel clockwise to access first combination switch screw (A) and remove.
  4. Rotate steering wheel counter-clockwise to access second combination switch screw (A) and remove.
  5. Disconnect the harness connector (B) from the combination switch (1) and remove.

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTIONAfter the work is completed, make sure no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp. In case a malfunction is detected by the air bag warning lamp, reset with the self-diagnosis function and delete the memory with CONSULT. If a malfunction is still detected after the above operation, perform self-diagnosis to repair malfunctions. Refer to " WORK PROCEDURE ".
