GENERAL INFORMATION
The cooling system is designed to keep every part of the engine at appropriate temperature in whatever condition the engine may be operated. The cooling method is of the water-cooled, pressure forced circulation type in which the water pump pressurizes coolant and circulates it throughout the engine. If the coolant temperature exceeds the prescribed temperature, the thermostat opens to circulate the coolant through the radiator as well so that the heat absorbed by the coolant may be radiated into the air. The water pump is of the centrifugal impeller type and is driven by the drive belt from the crankshaft. The radiator is the corrugated fin, cross flow type.

CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The engine control module (ECM) transmits the rotation signals of radiator fan and condenser fan, based on the engine coolant temperature signal from the engine coolant temperature sensor, the vehicle speed signal from the vehicle speed sensor < M/T > or the secondary pulley speed sensor signal from the transaxle control module (TCM) < CVT >, and the A/C switch signal from the A/C-ECU using the CAN bus line.
- The rotation signals of radiator fan and condenser fan, using the CAN bus line from ECM, turn ON/OFF of the radiator fan relay, condenser fan relay, and fan control relay via ETACS-ECU, to control the radiator fan and condenser fan rotation.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
- When the radiator fan and condenser fan do not operate, the wiring harness/connector, fan motor, relay, and ETACS-ECU may have a failure.
- The radiator fan and condenser fan do not operate also when the CAN bus line, MFI system, or ETACS system have a failure.
