TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)

The wiring harness wire or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damage terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector, or the A/C-ECU or heater control unit < vehicles without A/C > may be defective.

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, diagnose the CAN bus line CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to " «HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#heating-air-conditioning-and-ventilation-except-lancer-evolution__how-to-connect-the-scan-tool) ." Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Diagnose the CAN bus line. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position. Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal? YES: Go to Step 2. NO: Repair the CAN bus line. (Refer to «DIAGNOSIS»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/communication-devices/#controller-area-network-can-except-lancer-evolution__diagnosis) ).
  2. STEP 2. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code. Check again if the DTC is set. Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Check if the DTC is set. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position. Q: Is the DTC set? YES: Replace the A/C-ECU or heater control unit < vehicles without A/C >. On completion, check that the DTC is not reset. NO: There is an intermittent malfunction such as poor engaged connector(s) or open circuit (Refer to «HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/hoistjack/#general-information-except-lancer-evolution__how-to-cope-with-intermittent-malfunctions) .)
