GENERAL INFORMATION
If danger is perceived near the vehicle and if the ignition switch is in the OFF position or the key has been removed, press the panic button on the ignition key or the keyless operation key for one second, then the headlights flash and the horn sounds for approximately 3 minutes.

- Ensure that the ignition switch is at the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
- Start up the personal computer.
- Connect special tool MB991827 to special tool MB991824 and the personal computer.
- Connect special tool MB991910 to special tool MB991824.
- Connect special tool MB991910 to the data link connector.
- Turn the power switch of special tool MB991824 to the "ON" position. NOTE: When special tool MB991824 is energized, special tool MB991824 indicator light will be illuminated in a green color.
- Start the scan tool system on the personal computer. NOTE: Disconnecting scan tool MB991958 is the reverse of the connecting sequence, making sure that the ignition switch is at the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

Note. If the battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes will not be set. Check the battery if scan tool MB991958 does not display.
- Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Select "System select" from the start-up screen.
- Select "From 2006 MY" of "Model Year." When the "Vehicle Information" is displayed, check the contents.
- Select "ETACS" from "System List", and press the "OK" button. NOTE: When the "Loading Option Setup" list is displayed, check the applicable item.
- Select "Diagnostic Trouble Code." to read the DTC.
- If a DTC is set, it is shown.
- Choose "Erase DTCs" to erase the DTC.

- STEP 1. Check if the theft-alarm is normally set and the exterior protection can be executed. Check that the theft-alarm works normally. Q: Does the theft-alarm work normally? YES: Go to Step 2. NO: Troubleshoot the theft-alarm (Refer to «HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE CAN BUS LINES»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#theft-alarm-system-lancer-evolution__how-to-diagnose-the-can-bus) ).
- STEP 2. Using scan tool MB991958, read the diagnostic trouble code. Check if DTC is set to the KOS-ECU or WCM . CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to " «HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#panic-alarm-lancer-evolution__how-to-connect-the-scan-tool) ." Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Check whether the KOS or WCM related DTC is set. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position. Q: Is the DTC set? YES : Troubleshoot the KOS (Refer to «KOS»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#keyless-operation-system-kos-lancer-evolution) ). YES : Troubleshoot the WCM (Refer to «WCM»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/communication-devices/#wireless-control-module-wcm-lancer-evolution) ). NO: Go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Check keyless operation system or keyless entry system . Check that the doors can be open by keyless operation key or keyless entry transmitter . Q: Do keyless operation system or keyless entry system work normally? YES: Go to Step 4. NO : Troubleshoot the KOS (Refer to «KOS»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#keyless-operation-system-kos-lancer-evolution) ). NO : Troubleshoot the WCM (Refer to «WCM»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/communication-devices/#wireless-control-module-wcm-lancer-evolution) ).
- STEP 4. Using scan tool MB991958, check the customization function. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Use the ETACS-ECU customization function to check that the "Panic alarm switch" is set to "Enable". Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position. Q: Is the "Panic alarm switch" set to "Enable"? YES: Replace the ETACS-ECU. NO: Use the ETACS-ECU customization function to set the "Panic alarm switch" to "Enable" (Refer to «CUSTOMIZATION FUNCTION»(/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/x-2007-2016/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#panic-alarm-lancer-evolution__customization-function) ).
