Multifunction Electronic Modules: Removal & Installation Mercury Milan I

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

CAUTIONElectronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

Note. Prior to the removal of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the appropriate scan tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .

  1. Upload the module configuration information from the DDM into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-271110) .
  2. Remove the driver door trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(ref-271100) .
  3. Remove the 2 nuts. To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).
  4. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and remove the DDM.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Download the DDM configuration from the scan tool into the new DDM. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-271110) .

  2. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-271102) .
  3. Remove the driver seat. For additional information, refer to «SEATING»(ref-271101) .
  4. Drill out the 2 rivets.
  5. Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors and remove the DSM.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Download the DSM configuration from the scan tool into the new DSM. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-271110) .

  1. Upload the module configuration information from the SJB into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-271110) .
  2. Disconnect the 6 electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the 2 nuts. To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  4. Position the SJB aside, disconnect the RKE antenna electrical connector and remove the SJB.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Download the SJB configuration from the scan tool into the new SJB. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-271110) .
