Blower Motor Does Not Operate At Any Blower Switch Position
- Check 40-amp HEATER fuse in engine compartment fuse block and 15-amp ENGINE fuse in dash fuse block. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If either fuse is blown, check for shorted wiring harness before replacing fuse.
- Turn ignition on. Set blower switch at highest speed setting. Using voltmeter, backprobe Black/White wire terminal of blower motor relay connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Black/White wire between ENGINE fuse and blower motor relay.
- Backprobe Blue wire terminal of relay connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Blue wire between HEATER fuse and blower motor relay.
- Backprobe Black/Blue wire terminal of relay connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair wiring harness between blower motor relay and starter. Check starting system.
- Backprobe Blue/Red wire terminal of blower motor relay connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace blower motor relay.
- Ensure ignition is on and blower switch is at highest speed setting. Backprobe Blue/Red wire terminal of blower motor connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Blue/Red wire between blower motor relay and blower motor.
- Backprobe Blue/White wire terminal of blower motor connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace blower motor.
- Turn blower off. Backprobe Blue/White wire terminal of blower switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Blue/White wire between blower motor and blower switch.
- Disconnect blower switch connector. Check continuity between Black wire terminal of switch connector and ground. If continuity exists, replace switch. If continuity is not present, repair open Black wire between blower switch and ground.
Blower Motor Does Not Operate At Specific Blower Sw. Position
- Turn ignition on. Ensure blower and A/C (if equipped) are off. Using voltmeter, backprobe Blue/White wire terminal of blower resistor.
- If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check Blue/White wire between blower motor and blower resistor. Repair wire if necessary. If wire is okay, replace resistor.
- Backprobe Green/Red wire terminal of resistor. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace resistor.
- Backprobe Blue wire terminal of resistor. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace resistor.
- Backprobe Blue/Yellow wire terminal of resistor. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace resistor.
- Backprobe Blue/White wire terminal of blower switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to step 9). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Turn blower switch to highest speed setting. Backprobe Blue/Red wire terminal of blower motor connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Blue/Red wire between blower motor relay and blower motor.
- Backprobe Blue/White wire terminal of blower motor connector. If battery voltage exists, repair Blue/White wire between blower motor and blower switch. If battery voltage is not present, replace blower motor.
- Backprobe Yellow/Black wire terminal of blower switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Yellow/Black wire between blower resistor and blower switch.
- Backprobe Blue wire terminal of blower switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Blue wire between blower resistor and blower switch.
- Backprobe Blue/Yellow wire terminal of blower switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Blue/Yellow wire between resistor and blower switch.
- Check continuity between Black wire terminal of blower switch connector and ground. If continuity exists, replace blower switch. If continuity does not exist, repair ground circuit.
Airflow Mode Inoperative
Test airflow mode actuator. See ACTUATORS. If actuator is okay, disconnect airflow mode actuator connector and heater control panel connector. Check continuity of wiring harness between control panel connector and airflow mode actuator connector. See AIRFLOW MODE ACTUATOR WIRING HARNESS TEST table. If continuity is as specified, replace heater control panel. If continuity is not as specified, repair appropriate open wire between connectors.

Air-Mix (Temperature-Blend) Mode Inoperative
Test air-mix actuator. See ACTUATORS . If actuator is okay, disconnect heater control panel connector and air-mix actuator connector. Check continuity of wiring harness between control panel connector and air-mix actuator connector. See AIR-MIX ACTUATOR WIRING HARNESS TEST table. If continuity is as specified, replace heater control panel. If continuity is not as specified, repair appropriate open wire between connectors.

HEATER CONTROL PANEL
Remove heater control panel. See HEATER CONTROL PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure voltage at indicated terminals on back of heater control panel. See HEATER CONTROL PANEL TEST table. If voltage is not as specified, check related components and wiring harness. If components and wiring harness are okay, replace heater control panel.

HEATER CONTROL PANEL TEST
Airflow Mode Actuator
- Disconnect actuator connector. Connect positive battery lead to terminal "J" of actuator, and ground terminal "I". (Scheme 2) Ensure actuator moves door from vent position to defrost position. Reverse battery leads, and ensure door moves from defrost position to vent position. Replace actuator if it does not function as indicated.
- Remove battery leads. Press appropriate push button on control panel, and check continuity between indicated actuator terminals. See «AIRFLOW MODE ACTUATOR TEST»(ref-37147-S27703567932001010900000) table. Replace actuator if continuity is not as specified.

AIRFLOW MODE ACTUATOR TEST

Air-Mix (Temperature Blend) Actuator
- Disconnect actuator connector. Connect positive battery lead to terminal "G" of actuator, and ground terminal "H". (Scheme 3) Ensure actuator moves door from hot position to cold position. Reverse battery leads. Ensure actuator moves door from cold position to hot position. Replace actuator if it does not function as indicated.
- Remove battery leads from terminals "G" and "H". Connect ohmmeter between terminals "A" and "B". Connect positive battery lead to terminal "G", and ground terminal "H". Ensure resistance increases steadily from 800 ohms to 5500 ohms as actuator rotates clockwise.
- Connect ohmmeter between terminals "B" and "D". Reverse battery leads between terminals "G" and "H". Ensure resistance increases steadily from 800 ohms to 5500 ohms as actuator rotates counterclockwise. Replace actuator if it does not test as specified.
Scheme 3
Fresh/Recirculated Air Actuator
- Disconnect actuator connector. Connect positive battery lead to Blue/Orange wire terminal of actuator, and ground Blue wire terminal. Ensure actuator moves door from fresh air position to recirculated air position.
- Connect positive battery lead to Blue/Orange wire terminal of actuator, and ground Light Green/Red wire terminal. Ensure door moves from recirculated air position to fresh air position. Replace actuator if it does not function as indicated.
BLOWER MOTOR
Remove glove box. Disconnect blower motor connector on bottom of blower case. Connect battery voltage across blower motor connector terminals. Replace blower motor if it does not operate.
BLOWER MOTOR RELAY
- Disconnect blower motor relay. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between Blue wire and Blue/Red wire terminals of relay. Continuity should not exist. Check continuity between Black/White wire and Black/Blue wire terminals of relay. Ensure continuity exists.
- Apply battery voltage between Black/White wire and Black/Blue wire terminals of relay. Ensure continuity exists between Blue wire and Blue/Red wire terminals with voltage applied. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR
Remove glove box. Disconnect resistor connector. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between indicated resistor terminals. See BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR TEST table. Replace resistor if continuity is not as specified.
