Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right splash shield.
3. Set a breaker bar on the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley.
4. Using the breaker bar, turn the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley clockwise to release tension to the drive belt.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the transverse member. (Scheme 4) Remove the front exhaust pipe.
7. Remove the joint shaft. See «INTERMEDIATE SHAFT»(ref-166072-S42227048072004091300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in AXLE SHAFTS - FRONT - MPV article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
8. Disconnect generator terminal "B" wire. (Scheme 5)
9. Disconnect generator harness connector.
10. Remove generator mounting bolts. Remove generator.
11. To install, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 5) Tighten fasteners in sequence, to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-167358-S19604803172004101300000).
