Generators & Regulators: Overview Mazda MPV II рестайлинг

Charging System 1 illustration ~273 words

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

The charging system consists of a generator/regulator assembly, charge indicator, battery, and required circuitry. Charging system uses a mega-fuse (100-amp) to prevent system damage. Solid-state regulator, mounted on rear of generator, is factory-calibrated and cannot be adjusted.

When engine is started, the rotation of the generator creates AC current, which passes through the rectifier assembly, where it is converted to DC current. Generator supplies 13-15 volts to vehicle's electrical system.

GENERATOR WARNING LIGHT OPERATION

  1. Verify that the battery is fully charged.
  2. Verify that the drive belt deflection/tension is correct. See «BELT TENSION»(ref-167358-S17976314802004101300000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON position and verify that the generator warning light illuminates. If warning light does not illuminate, inspect generator warning light, wiring harnesses between the battery, generator warning light, and PCM terminal No. 98. (Scheme 1) If the generator warning light and the wiring harnesses are okay, replace the PCM.
  4. Verify that the generator warning light goes off after the engine is started. If it does not go out, connect Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS), or equivalent scan tool and check if any one of the following DTCs in the on-board diagnostic system are displayed: P0112, P0113, P1631, P1633 or P1634.
  5. If P0112, P0113, P1631, P1633 or P1634 are displayed, see the following: For 2002 models, see «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION»(ref-151881-S40987814012003010900000) in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. For 2003 models, see «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION»(ref-151881-S40987814012003010900000) in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. For 2004 models, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no DTCs are present, perform appropriate test under «ON-VEHICLE TESTS»(ref-167358-S33026587852004101300000).
