REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Note. If rear of vehicle has been raised, check if rear shock absorber air cylinder pressure is abnormally low. Disconnect rear air pipe joint before lowering jack. Ensure ALL indicator (LEVELER) light is not flashing before lowering vehicle.
Removal
On compressor air pipe connection, press base of plug and pull air pipe to disconnect. On air pipe joint connections, remove boot from joint. Grasp air pipe joint tabs and pull on plug to disconnect. On shock absorber connections, rotate nut and disconnect air pipe.
Installation
On compressor air pipe connection, push air pipe in until ridges catch on tab on plug to connect. On air pipe joint connections, push air pipes together until click is heard to connect. Pull air pipes to ensure connection is secure. Cover air pipe joint with boot. On shock absorber connections, tighten nut to 10-13 ft. lbs. (13-18 N.m).
Raise and support vehicle. Lower spare tire carrier approximately 12" to gain access to height sensor. Disconnect height sensor connector. Remove height sensor mounting bolts and nut. Remove height sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust height sensor rod. See VEHICLE HEIGHT SENSOR under ADJUSTMENTS. Tighten height sensor mounting bolts to 13-20 ft. lbs. (18-27 N.m) and mounting nut to 69-106 INCH lbs. (7.8-12 N.m).
Raise and support vehicle. Remove splash shield. Remove stabilizer bar. Disconnect height sensor rod from differential housing. Disconnect air pipe from shock absorber. Remove upper and lower shock absorber mounting nuts and washers. Support shock absorber with jack. Slowly raise jack to relieve pressure from shock absorber. Remove shock absorber. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten shock absorber mounting nuts to 56-76 ft. lbs. (76-103 N.m).
Remove battery and battery mounting bracket. Disconnect right headlight bulb connector. Remove windshield wiper washer fluid reservoir mounting bolts and remove reservoir. Remove compressor mounting bracket bolts. Remove compressor mounting bracket and compressor. Remove compressor-to-mounting bracket bolts. Remove compressor from mounting bracket.
- Install compressor onto compressor mounting bracket. Tighten compressor-to-mounting bracket bolts to 49-69 INCH lbs. (5.4-7.8 N.m). Install compressor and compressor mounting bracket. Tighten upper compressor mounting bracket bolt to 69-104 INCH lbs. (7.8-12 N.m). Tighten lower compressor mounting bracket bolts to 61-87 INCH lbs. (6.9-9.8 N.m).
- Install windshield wiper washer fluid reservoir and tighten mounting bolts to 61-87 INCH lbs. (6.9-9.8 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
