FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNINGIncorrect servicing of the discharge headlights could result in electrical shock. Before servicing the discharge headlights, always refer to the discharge headlight service warnings. (See DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT SERVICE WARNINGS .)

Note. Fogging or condensation on the inside of the front combination lights may occur due to a natural phenomenon occurring as a result of a temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the front combination lights rises after illuminating the headlights or a period of time has elapsed.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the front bumper. (See «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-663033-S00861607052014101600000) article.)
  3. Disconnect the connector.
  4. While pressing the clip tab in the direction of the arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the clip in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure to detach the clip tab and front combination light.
  5. Remove the clip.
  6. Remove the bolts.
  7. Remove the protector.
  8. Remove the bolts.
  9. Remove the fastener.
  10. Pull the front combination light in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and pull out the front combination light pin from the body.
  11. Remove the front combination light.
  12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  13. Adjust the headlight aiming. (See «HEADLIGHT AIMING»(ref-663026-S39999584422014101600000) .)

Scheme 23

Scheme 23: Low Beam
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the coolant reserve tank. (RH only) (See «COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]»(ref-663017-S32179853902014101600000) article.)
  3. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration below. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 24: High-beam
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration below. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.
  3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

IGNITER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNINGIncorrect servicing of the discharge headlight could result in electrical shock. Before servicing the discharge headlights, always refer to the service warnings. (See DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT SERVICE WARNINGS .)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. When removing the igniter on the right side, remove the coolant reserve tank. (RH only) (See «COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]»(ref-663017-S32179853902014101600000) .)
  3. Rotate the cover in the direction of the arrow (1) shown in the figure and remove it from the front combination light in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure.
  4. Rotate the igniter in the direction of the arrow (3) shown in the figure and remove it from the front combination light in the direction of the arrow (4) shown in the figure.
  5. Insert the flathead screwdriver into the gap between the igniter and connector shown in the figure.
  6. Move the flathead screwdriver in the direction of the arrow (5) shown in the figure, lift up the connector, and disconnect it.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  4. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration below.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 27: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INSPECTION
  1. Remove the column cover. (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-663022-S36532790502014101600000) article.)
  2. Turn the steering wheel to the right and left, and verify that the voltage and pulses at the terminals are as shown in the illustration below. If not as indicated in the illustration below, replace the combination switch body.

Scheme 33: Front Fog Light Bulb Removal Note
  1. Remove the front fog light bulb by turning it in the direction shown by the arrow. CAUTION: A halogen bulb generates extremely high heat when it is illuminated. If the surface of the bulb is soiled, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When handling the bulb, hold the flange, not the glass.

  1. Make a screen as shown in the illustration below using double-weight, white paper.
  2. Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.
  3. Position the unloaded vehicle on a flat, level surface.
  4. Seat one person in the driver's seat.
  5. Line up the vehicle with the wall so that the center of the front fog light is 3 m {9.8 ft} away from the wall.
  6. Measure the height at the center of the front fog light. NOTE: Since the height of the vehicle varies depending on the vehicle situation, measure the height of the center of the front fog light using the actual vehicle.
  7. Align the center of the front fog light with the center of the screen.
  8. Block the light of the other front fog light using a partition.
  9. Start the engine so that the battery remains charged.
  10. Turn the front fog lights on.
  11. Verify that the brightness border line of the front fog light is at the position indicated on the adjustment screen. If the brightness border line is not at the position indicated on the adjustment screen, perform the following adjustment. Remove the front under cover B. (See FRONT UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION article.) Loosen the adjustment bolt. Loosen the screw. Move the front fog light in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration below to adjust the brightness border line to the position indicated on the adjustment screen. Tighten the screw and adjustment bolt.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  4. Remove the screws.
  5. Disconnect the connector.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the liftgate side trim. (See «LIFTGATE SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-663022-S37890998892014101600000) article.)

  5. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration below.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Scheme 50: Lens Removal Note
  1. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the service hole and pry with the screwdriver in the direction shown by the arrow to remove the lens.

COMBINATION SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNINGIf the negative battery cable or the steering angle sensor connector is disconnected, the stored initial position of the steering angle sensor will be cleared and the DSC will not operate properly, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. Perform the steering angle sensor initialization procedure after connecting the negative battery cable.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.

  4. Put aside the upper column cover.
  5. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration below.
  6. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

AUTO LIGHT/WIPER CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Note. Auto light-off system are integrated with the auto light/wiper control module.
