AIR FILTER INSPECTION

  1. Verify that there is no damage, excessive dirt, or abnormal odor on the air filter. If there is any malfunction, replace the air filter. NOTE: The air filter cannot be reused by cleaning it with water or compressed air.

  5. Disconnect from A/C unit in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill. (Scheme 62): A/C Unit Related Components With Torque Specification
  6. Remove the A/C unit. Do not allow compressor oil. (Scheme 63): A/C Unit And Nuts With Torque Specification
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  8. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See «REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST»(ref-581662-S05846877252013101400000).)
  9. Inspect for engine coolant leakage. (See «ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [MZR 2.5]»(ref-581646-S26582918502013101400000).) (See «ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-581683-S19761424272013101400000).)

EVAPORATOR INSPECTION

  1. Inspect the evaporator for damage, cracks, and oil leakage. If there is any malfunction, replace the evaporator.
  2. Visually inspect the fins for bending. If there is any bending, use the end of a flathead screwdriver to straighten the fins.

HEATER CORE INSPECTION

  1. Inspect the heater core for damage, cracks, and water leakage. If there is any malfunction, replace the heater core.
  2. Visually inspect the fins for bending. If there is any bending, use the end of a flathead screwdriver to straighten the fins.
  3. Visually inspect the heater hose for deformation. Repair with pliers if there is deformation. If there is any malfunction, replace the heater core.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table. (Scheme 64): RH/LH Rear Heat Duct And Fastener
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge the refrigerant. (See «REFRIGERANT CHARGING»(ref-581662-S18980350532013101400000).)
  3. Remove the front under cover.

  5. Remove the water hose bracket. (Scheme 65): Water Hose Bracket And Bolt CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.
  6. Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill. (Scheme 66): A/C Compressor Components With Torque Specification
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  8. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See «REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST»(ref-581662-S05846877252013101400000).)

CONDENSER INSPECTION

  1. Inspect the condenser for cracks, damage, and oil leakage. If there is any malfunction, replace the condenser.
  2. Visually inspect the fins for clogging of foreign material. If any fins are clogged, remove the foreign material.
  3. Visually inspect the fins for bending. If there is any bending, use the end of a flathead screwdriver to straighten fins.

Scheme 67: RECEIVER/DRIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the refrigerant. (See «REFRIGERANT CHARGING»(ref-581662-S18980350532013101400000).)
  3. Remove the front bumper. (See «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-581621-S34011796882013101400000).) CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.
  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill. (Scheme 67): Receiver/Drier And Bolt With Torque Specification
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  6. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See «REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST»(ref-581662-S05846877252013101400000).)

  1. Disconnect the block joint type pipes by grasping female side of the block with hand holding firmly, then loosen the connection bolt. (Scheme 68): Removing Receiver/Drier Connection Bolt

  1. Tighten the bolt of joint by hand. (Scheme 69): Installing Receiver/Drier Connection Bolt
  2. Tighten the joint to the specified torque. Connect the block joint type pipe by grasping female side of the block with hand holding firmly, then tighten the connection bolt.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  4. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.
  5. Remove the No.3 engine mount earth. (Scheme 70): Refrigerant Line And Bolt
  6. Do not allow remaining compressor oil in the piping and connecting parts to spill, and remove in the order indicated in the table. CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  9. Sustain the engine and transaxle component with the engine jack. (Scheme 73): Supporting Engine And Transaxle Component With Engine Jack
  10. Disconnect the engine mount No.3 and No.4. (See «ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-581682-S09006967352013101400000).)
  11. Move the engine and transaxle component slightly direction to left, and enlarge the space for remove the refrigerant line.
  12. Do not allow remaining compressor oil in the piping and connecting parts to spill, and remove in the order indicated in the table. CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.
  13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
