AIR CLEANER ELEMENT INSPECTION [AJ]
- Remove the air cleaner element. (See «INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ]»(ref-288770-S05460329182008062500000) ).
- Verify that the air cleaner element surface is free of dirt. If there is dirt present, use an air gun or similar tool to clean the element. If the replacement time limit has passed, replace the element.
THROTTLE ACTUATOR INSPECTION [AJ]
| CAUTION | When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the PCM operates the throttle actuator to adjust the throttle valve position. At this time, do not touch the valve to open or close it because your fingers could be pinched. |
Note. Perform the following inspection only when directed.
Visual Inspection
- Verify that no DTCs related stored to the TP or APP sensors have been stored. If any DTCs have been stored, perform the applicable DTC inspection. (See «DTC TABLE [AJ]»(ref-288776-S26157273642008062500000) ).
- Remove the air hose from the throttle body. (See «INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ]»(ref-288770-S05460329182008062500000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Operate the accelerator pedal and verify that the throttle valve opens and closes in accordance with the pedal movement. If it cannot be verified, perform the "Continuity Inspection".
Continuity Inspection
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the throttle actuator connector.
- Inspect for continuity between the throttle actuator terminals A and B using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the throttle body. (See «INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ]»(ref-288770-S05460329182008062500000) ). If as specified, perform the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".

- Disconnect the PCM connector. (See «PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ]»(ref-288754-S42604058742008062500000) ).
- Inspect the following wiring harnesses for open or short circuit (continuity check).
